Porsche illuminated door-entry guard install

Wondering if there is any info out there on installing the Porsche illuminated door-entry guards? Is it something a novice can do with the right instructions? Porsche Dealer wants, what to me, is a fortune for install.

I think we have the tech article from Porsche in our FILES section on how to install them, I seem to recall it requires taking the door panels off to tap into some wiring and that was why it is pricey/time consuming to do it.

I've been told that you can make it work without removing the doorsills, but it isn't the "proper" install. It cost more in labor than the doorsills actually cost to have mine installed. On renntech, there is a TSB that details the installation.

install

I have a set of the illuminated door sills sitting here next to me right now. I tried to do it myself but gave up. Just taking the old ones off and getting the glue off was a few hours. I am having my local shop now do the install because the doors do need to be removedd you have to run a wire to the fuse box. I am decent at this stuff but I just want it done the right way and would rather pay to have it done. I am hoping to install it with my friend who owns the shop and I will let you know how I do. I would suggest some Goo Gone and a lot of it and a few of those plastic scrapers that come with the Goo Off at your local auto store. That glue is insane. I gave up and came back at it 3 days in a row to finally get it clean. I hope I am helping feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. Drew
