I have an '07 CS with a Milltek cat back, GIAC flash and EVO intake. Power increase is substantial, but exhaust sound leaves something to be desired - not a big change from stock. Significant other has just bought an '08 base Boxster. Exhaust sound is terrific, great growl, totally different from my stock system (I believe), certainly much better than my Milltek, about which I am constantly reminded. So, given all of that, I have a few questions I would like answers to help both the car and my ego.
Is the Cayman and Boxster exhaust the same? I assume so, but don't really know.
If so, are the '08 and '07 exhausts the same?
Here's the biggie. If I took out the secondary cats (replaced with straight pipes), would air flow increase through the system to the level achieved by the Milltek?
Thanks.

Go with Tubi and you will definitely be louder than the Boxster

Yes the Cayman and boxster exhaust are the same for the 3.4L engines.
The tips are different as well as the T-pipe that connects to the tip and mufflers.
You would have to chop up the mufflers to remove the secondary cats (that is what the sport exhaust does, bypasses the second cats) it will sound like the sport exhaust with valves open.
It would not be louder than milltek, but sound alot like it.
I went from the full Milltek exhaust to the full APR and am very satisfied with the sound as well as quality. It also added 4WHP and 5FTLBS more than Milltek.
Here are sound clips as well as dynos in this thread: APR Full exhaust installed!
PSE - Porsche Sports Exhaust System
The acoustics of this dual-mode sports exhaust system are dependent on driving style, ranging from standard output during normal road driving to a more aggressive tone during performance use. Modes are selected using a button on the center console (or ‘Sport’ mode button on vehicles with optional Sport Chrono Package/Sport Chrono Package Plus).
Introduction planned for 04/2007. Some models may require additional components. For detailed information about this product, please contact your Porsche dealer.

I chopped off the secondary mufflers from my Milltek system and LOVE the sound. I found it way too quiet before.
Here is the thread that i posted: Milltek Catback mod?
