Airbag warning light with GT3 seats - deal can't turn off :-(

Hi Guys, just got my GT3 seats put in, I gave them the codes for the airbag warning, seatbelt chime, etc.. and after this, we still could not get the light to go off. They did this while I was there so I could see it for my self.

So it blinks 3 times then stays on :-(

Anyone have any other ideas on how I can get this lamp to go off? Hack ideas welcome ..

( deal said I should get smiley face sticker to put over it :-) )

Regards

David

As far as I know you need a Porsche computer to do that. I had a Porsche tech friend fix mine after I changed my seats. Also had him turn off the chime since it drove me crazy when at the track using harness belts as it continue to chime all the time and never stop. They can tell to do it by driver & pass separately.

I change out my GT3 seats for the factory sport seats in the winter as I like the bun warmers. I've had two different dealers turn off the AB light and chimes etc. a total of 3x ............... it's no big deal!

I took my car to the dealer (with the standard seats fitted) and they using the PIWIS system, turned off the Driver's and Passenger's Thorax Airbag and the Driver's and Passenger's seat belt warning, as indicated on Ken's GT3 seat install article.

Driving home I got the RED central information/warning of Airbag Malfunction which I could turn off with the lower stalk.

But together with this was a small RED Airbag Icon light, in the lower space between the Central and Left hand Dials which would not go away (Together with a RED Exclamation mark in the central Tacho Dial) - So I drove back to the dealer.

How do we clear this - make it go away? - the dealer could not do it, and promised that it would go away after a while? (Liar......)

Will it go away if I unclip the connectors under the seat?

Or can I do it with the Durametric Software?

A while back "sleepless" had posted the required codes for the dealer to clear each of the issues that result with the seat change. FWIW both of the dealers I dealt with were familer with the codes. I also spoke directly with the mechanics that were servicing my car.

Turns out it is a trivial task for your Porsche dealer to set some ECU options to deal with all these faults. All you need to do is ask them to use their diagnostic computer to program the following options:
Driver Thorax Airbag : No
Passenger Thorax Airbag : No
Driver Seatbelt Buckle: No
Passenger Seatbelt Buckle: No
AWS : No
No more error codes

All of the above, compliments of "sleepless".

I have not heard of others having the issues you describe "kareldeely". Try a search on Rennlist for similar seat/code issues. Good luck!

Ditto, sleepless' comments.
I had Suncoast Porsche put my GT3 seats in. They switched off all those options and it works great.
