Changing to H&R Springs

Replacing my stock CS springs with H&R Sport springs. Do I reuse all the elements including the spring compensation plate for these new springs? The Porsche manual is unclear to me.

I just had this done last week but I had the dealer install the springs. They reused all the spring mounts and what not you are refering to. I only noticed that they charged me for some new bolts and small hardware to put the springs in. By the way. they work great and the lowered look is wonderful. Brough the entire car down about 1.5 inched after the springs settle in.

H&R On Mine already as well

Wish it was just a little lower though .with Low profile tires the gap is too much.My sugestion would be 20" Wheels and a happy Medium On the tire profile to squeeze the the gap a lttle .. I am going to to a complete Coil over ASAP .Highly Reccomend the H&R though the ride is very close to the factory springs and I get lots of compliments..lets see some pics?

How much did your dealer charge you for the work, in hours. What about the alignment? When the snow clears up here, I'm having mine installed. Can't wait. It's been a long winter....

Hold on........... Will this make your Cayman Faster/Quicker/Safer/More Controllable through the Bends?

Possibly Not........?

How a Car LOOKS is not how it PERFORMS..................

It was a little painful on the installation price. Springs 339.00, 4 wheel alignment 350 and the install was 1400. all totaled took it right up to about 2100.

I could have saved $$$$ by going to another place to get the install. I chose to use the dealer because I my CS is not even a year old and I wanted to make sure, if there was a problem, that they would be able to see it and not claim some other place screwed up my install. It didn't really effect my warantee according to the dealer. I'm realyl happy with it.

We all have different reasons for why we mod our cars. Mine is different than yours I guess.

No it didn't make my car Faster/Quicker/Safer. It was ALREADY FAST, QUICK and SAFE!!

This is my road car. It will never see the track. I don't need to throw a ton of money at my car to make it track worthy and max out the performance all over the thing. I wanted it to look nicer than stock and ride about the same. I accon=mplished that by doing just the springs.

You see Kareldeeley, I have the best of both worlds now. The car looks great and perfoms wonderfully. Lighten up dude!

Wow. My dealer is quoting me 7 hours at $120 plus $180 for the alignment. Funny how the prices vary from dealer to dealer.

ps; I'm with you on the reason for lowering "my" car. I'm doing it for the esthetics. I am also assuming it will be a little flatter around the bends...

I'm interested in doing the same thing. How does it ride now compared to prior set-up. Is it as comfortable? Are you scraping the bottom much more?

The ride, to me, feels pretty much the same. Maybe a little stiffer but not too much. the cornering/body roll feels flatter. I'm totally happy.

You do need to be aware of dips and speed type bumps. No issues with the raods yet. Here in phoenix, the roads are pretty good for the most part. Actually the only part that scrapes the ground is the little plastic wind deflectors just in front of the front tires. Other than that, no problems.

Oops......... if you will read - you will note my reply was to prodgers....(Not YOU) Particularly as the post referred to an even lower setting with 20" Rims.
Not as you have indicated..........

Also please note I have not spent a 'ton of money'.......... but I have a car suitable for track and road........ Also like yours, it looks good too........ (ok the 'Yellow Peril' is probably Faster/Quicker/Safer with the other upgrades - especially the brakes, than yours - I admit it!)

Lighten up - and enjoy life as I do!

kareldeeley/H&R springs

Yes .. My car corners better and feels better after being lowered .I have 19" Rims so maybe a better choice than the 20"s .I went to Les Schwab out here in WA .Springs were $350.00 Allignment $70.00 Total with Installation was $775.00 TOTAL!!! I bought the whole shop PIZZA as I always do.It took about 6 to 7 hours to complete I believe . The Porsche/BMW tuner down the street Quoted me $1,575.00 without the allignment so I think I scored. kareldeeley ,The stock looking Cayman personally Bore's me.. with just a few tweaks it comes to life .Get with it man ..Tweak it
