Capristo Exhaust Review

Just installed a capristo system in my car. Headers and cat back.

First, let me say thanks to our fellow member, BJ. Without him i wont have this experience. He was a great guy, helping me to understand all the questions about this exhaust system. He even help me out when the technician that did the installation didnt understand on some of the things. Thanks BJ!

The install itself takes 9 hours. Yes, whole 9 hours was spent trying to figure out which tubing goes into what and other problems and finally when the system has been fully installed, headers, catbacks, computers, tubing, vacuum and all other stuffs, i heard the noise of the almighty capristo!

those videos that you guys ever seen in the site or youtube doesnt do this system a good example. you have to hear it by standing next to it and listen how it revs! To me, when you let it idle and rev it up, it sounded like a lamborghini on a straight pipe or that carerra GT video on youtube. and when you drive it on the road, it sounded a little more deep, but it still has that high pitch sound! i'm not really sure how does it sound from the outside while the car is moving as i was driving the car.

The other thing that surprise me is that when the valve is closed, it sounded like stock. Prior to this exhaust, i was using 1st generation Fabspeed and it has noise or drones to some during the 2-3 rpm range. while i was driving home just now, i noticed that the sound is gone. but when you hit the rev setting that you set, the whole exhaust and noise just becomes crazy!

Another thing that i noticed is that i get a CEL and when i tried using my own OBDII reader, it says something that has to do with the catalytic threshold or something, i check it up again tmr. it's 3am now. is this normal?

well, i dont see any negative points about this exhaust besides the long installation. i wish that capristo sent us a good instructions about the tubing and everything. the articles here are easy i guess, but those technicians that were working on my car had some difficulties so i cant really say anything about it. but it helps a lot though since capristo dont give any instructions at all.

First,
Congrats on the Capristo. 9 Hours is NOT the norm, my techs did it in what 2 or 3 including all the tubing, etc. I think the articles here from BJ and myself should be enough for just about anyone to do the install, but if it took 9 hours it took 9 hours. You are correct in noting that with valves closed there is NO resonance unlike other exhausts that have some degree in the 2-3000 rpm range. Of course with the valves open it is a beast and sounds unlike any other exhaust system for the Cayman. As for the CEL light that is for cat efficiency, you will get those from time to time because you are running race cats. You can shut that off permanently with something like the Softronic ECU tuning.

K-man S - Once upon a time there was a Capristo Group Buy. Any way we can encourage that to get done again? Is there someone here who ran the group buy last time?
