WeatherTech floor liners arrived today...

I live in Romania and use my 2.7 Cayman as a daily driver. It snows in winter here so I went to the dealer to see about winter gear. Tires? sure, but only in a set with mags. F***. Nevermind then. Rubber mats? nope. Wha--?? If you're selling winter tires, wouldn't that customer also likely require rubber mats??

So I came across this site and skimmed the boards and saw rave reviews about some 'floor liners' from weathertech. Ok, I guess those'll be the ones. So I put in my order. In November.

They arrived near the end of January. A *tad* bit late. And they're stiff. Why didn't anyone mention this?? And the fit? Not worth raving about. Given that they're stiff and can't take the shape of the floor I find this kind of a big failure on their part. And they ain't cheap for what they are.

*sigh*. Better than nothing I guess. Thought I would share for the sake of prospective buyers.

You are right, the FloorLiners are quite stiff and as such they do not feel as pleasant as, say, Lloyd Ultimats.

However, the protection they afford is excellent, and that is my main concern during the winter. I actually love the way the FloorLiners fit, and, importantly, there is no sliding whatsoever.

Refer to my article about FloorLiner surgery to see what kind of mess was avoided thanks to those hard shells

Of course, if Porsche engineers were to design winter mats with half-decent sidewalls (unlike the current ones, at least according to the pictures I have seen) I would love to try them out, as I think they look great. But form does not always follow function...

Hi Guys,
I have the regular soft Weathertec mats, not the Floorliners. I find that the back of my pants drag in the wet from the mat and cause me to go through tons of $ in drycleaining. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, are the Floorliners a better way to go?
Ken

KenRose, I have the same issue

Unfortunately, I think this will occur with any kind of floormat that repels, rather than soaks up, liquids. In our case, snow, slush and salt.

The FloorLiners are no exception.

Has anyone used the new Porsche rubber winter mats for the Cayman? They look to fit well but I'm not sure they have a lip.

They do have a slight lip, I have a set in my Boxster S, they are wearing well and are a must for the winter.

I love the design of these winter mats, but take a quick look at my article on FloorLiner Surgery and you will see that those small lips are unfortunately not tall enough, especially if you plan to drive your Cayman in snow and salt.

Again : form, or function...

I got Berber floor mats - and I plan to use them as all season. They are much thicker than OEM and nicely complement the interior.
