Fuel Filler Bib

My 944 has a bib around the fuel filler pipe that folds out to protect the paint when filling the tank. I noticed that Caymans do not have one of these. Does anyone know of an aftermarket product I could use, or should I just try and fabracate one myself from leather or neoprene.

Nothing against Griot's but I wonder if we couldn't fabricate something that would be a better fit for the Cayman and perhaps have a logo on it or something else. I'm sure one of our sponsors would be happy to pick up the task and run it to completion. Back when I had a Boxster there was a similar initiative about 6 years ago and the custom ones turned out much better than the "universal" ones like these.

I don't know where everyone else gets gas; but, I have never had a problem with the nozzle getting anywhere near the paint on the Cayman. With older 911s, it was a problem, hence the bib.

No bib needed on the Cayman IMHO.

+1 there is a little rubber drip divet with drainage hole underneath where the gas nozzle goes into the tank. tilt the nozzle angle up as you take it out of the tank and you shouldn't even need that (all the drips go back down the gas pump nozzle.)

This isn't an issue about petrol getting on the finish, but in Oregon we are not allowed to pump gas. This is more of an issue about careless station attendants and metal gas pump nozzles. The idea of a "fuel filler flap" just adds a little protection.

Go with the clear bra solution. I told my clear bra installer to custom cut a piece just for that area and it works great.
