I have a red CS coming, and I am considering blacking out the body-color spars that suspend the driving lights in the front right/left grill sections. Despite a brief search for articles, threads, and pictures, I came up empty.
Among the folks who have done this, what color paint did you use? I assume black, of course, but was it gloss black, semi-gloss, matte black, flat black, what? I attempted to doctor a photo to reproduce the effect on my own, but does anybody have an actual photo of the work they could share? THX
Thank you for the picture. That black looks like it has a matte finish to it. Without seeing the car in person, I would guess the black on the spar looks very much like the black on that GT3 vent...

For my fog light spears and the vents I had them painted by BumperPlugs...outstanding finish. I used gloss black on the vents and semi-gloss on the spears. For the spoiler, I painted it myself, using semi-gloss paint from the hardware store...matched just fine with the spears. I figure I'll be repainting the spoiler over time as I bump it so why have it done professionally.

The spears I ordered from SunCoast didn't come in black- in fact a primered gray is how I received them. That said, I painted mine using a can of spray paint from Home Dept- flat black. It's a really easy modification, and a worthwhile one IMO- gives the Cayman a much more aggressive look.
Here's a pic of my car, with/without the black spear:
