X-51 motor !!

So where would be the best place to pick up a X-51?

Or would a rebuild be better?

I have read one and then the other and have not seen a good answer for either one yet.

A little help.

Thanks all,

Eazy

Pic's of my project are coming soon, mine is in the shop and will not have it back till the 28th.....just in time for Euro Sunday.

Hello Easy, I am sorry but I don't have any leads for you regarding the X-51, however I looked at you avatar picture and I really like your wheels..!

I heard a crate motor is a good way to go. Any engine not up to snuff gets diverted from the assembly line and is reworked. This results in some special attention and usually a higher output.

The wheels have since been painted and many mods are being completed in the shop as we speak. I should have new pic late next week to show the progress of my project and will be out at Euro Sunday on the 20th of April.

I have heard the crate motor was a great way to go. I just have no Idea where to get one. I guess I could ask my parts manager at Porsche near me.(He loves me I just spent 5K in two weeks.)

Thanks on the picture.

Eazy

Really...special attention? From what insiders at the factory told us is that the engine is broken down and rebuilt to meet the specific +/- power%. Gone are the days of the "certain builders, building stronger motors".

To answer the original poster's question - the only source for a 3.8 X-51 motor is Porsche - anyone who does the swap for you would need to get one from them, unless they have a spare 3.8 M97 laying around and want to do the X-51 modifications to it.

A 3.8 X-51 motor might just get some special attention, since it's a special order item with many different internals (cams, intake, pistons, etc.) from the stock 3.8 that goes into the Carrera S cars.

Has anyone priced the X-51 from the dealer?
