I had some fun Tinting My Rear Tail Lights This weekend and it cost me less tha $20.00 . I left the Reverse light Un touched .My car Is Basalt Black so I peronally thought this was the way to go for me anyway. And It looks GREAT!! Just removed my tail lights Taped off the reverse lights and used some VHT Nightshades.Very Interesting stuff .Each Coat you put on is about another 25% darker so if you do not want a total black you dont have to.I Did 3 light coats followed by 3 coats of Clear Gloss and kept it under a heat lamp for 1/2 hour or so .You can still see a little Red so maybe this is a happy medium for (Police) and (Safety) me not wanting to do a total black out.I think This is a great option for people that do not want to spend a lot of $$$ .although I will probally get the all Red tail lights in the future I just did not have the $$ right now.Highly Reccomended ...

That does look pretty cool on a Black car; not sure if it would work as well on other colors.

Not bad at all. I would definitely skip it for other colors but black and blue.
I would love to see a higher rez shot of the tail lights to see who good of the job you did taping it off. I am not confident in my taping skills, so I probably would find someone who airbrushes, to do this for me.

The taping Off was easier than I thought and was actually very surprised that there was NO leakage whatsoever .I used that Blue tape you get at home depot its like masking tape and Just Bent the tape in the Curve of the Reverse light as I went along .For the corners I just used scissores and trimed some little pieces of tape .If I can do it anybody can trust me .I Ushally mess up every mod I try myself. I read online that some shops put the tail lights in an oven @ 200 Degrees for 15 Minutes for a gloss look. But I was not confortable with that idea thinking my next meal cooked in that same oven might poisen me so I used 3 Clear Coats. That was the hardest part .On my test runs the clear paint Dripped everytime so I used a heat lamp (It was 40 Out)that day and did really thin coats 12" away and had sucess.I have some better Pics and will post tonight ok
I have a basalt black 07 CS. I went with the all red OEM tails. I have in my possession a painted to match cayman s badge and headlight washers from bumperplugs. They did a totally killer job matching the paint. I am changing the silver exhaust rim to ext color also. I have Boothe Black pearl tips now but I plan to buy a Borla exhaust and send the rear sections/tips off to be black chrome or Nickel plated prior to installation. I have the red tails and the Boothe tips installed so far. I broke my ankle and cannot complete the deal for 4-5 more weeks. The red tails and the Boothe tips made a heck of a difference. I will post a pic of the black badge as soon as I can do it. Your's looks great.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. OUCH !! Well I would like to have the all RED OEM rear tail lights but the $$$ Seems a little much (over $300.00) .Would REALLY like to have the Clear Engine Cover as well. I work in the Mortgage Business ...It Aint like it use to be...
Taillights look great and I think they would look good on my Red car - I have a Black emblem and painted the exhaust trim piece Black as well.
In regards to powdercoating the exhaust tips, suggest you go with ceramic coating, which will hold up better due to the heat. Bill Bento of Fuzion Performance Coatings (561.254.2329) (bentow@bellsouth.net) has done them for members and Champion Motorsports, etc. - great work at a great price.
