Thumbs down Apr

I have to say I am very disapointed in APR today. I had plans on getting my 2.7 flashed this week. I have been speaking with APR since the 28th of Feb. I was told on 3 seperate occasions APR has already completed the DME codes for the 08's on both the Cayman and the Cayman S.

I get told today from them THEY HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THE CAYMAN, only the Cayman S. So needless to say I am very very disapointed in APR. Why give out several emails to a customer when you have no idea what your even talking about.

Feb. 28th,
Chris,
We have already completed most of the DMEs on the 08 Cayman and Cayman S. If you know your DME number I can look it up. The other option is you can stop by any of the APR dealers found in the link and they can plug into your computer and see what is available.

APR - Engineered Performance for Volkswagen Vehicles

Feb. 28th,
Chris,
Congratulations on the new car, the Cayman really is a blast. The DME is the German acronym for Engine Control Unit; The DME is also commonly referred to as the ECU. The DME is not overly difficult to remove but if you can make it by B&B they can simply plug in under the dash and see exactly what is available or your car.

March 10th,
Chris,
Our software makes more power and is smoother but it will not unlock the Sport Chrono Package.

April 1st
Chris,
If you have a Cayman S we definitely have software for your car. If it is a Cayman we don’t have software for you sorry.

April 1st.
I’m very sorry, but everything on these cars is done by your ECU number. I was told by the engineers that we have software for all model Caymans, I being a car guy assume that would mean Cayman and Cayman S. They were unaware that there was a Cayman. They thought that the car was simply known as a Cayman S. after investigating further with the ECU box codes I realized they had all of the Cayman S ECU codes covered but not a single Cayman. I am extremely sorry for the miscommunication. Now that they are aware that there is such a thing as the Cayman we will see what it will take to tune it.

Very disapointing... Back to square one on what to do...

I don't think they do actually... I first sent them an email asking about the 2.7L specific. I didn't see anything listed on their website about it, only the 3.4L. I was just shocked when he said the engineers never knew there was such a car. I thought they were supposed to be on top of things like this. Not to of known about the 2.7L engine just wasn't the answer I was looking for...

I guess on a bright side... If I continue to grow my business at the pace I am... I could always just trade up to the 3.4L.

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the confusion and misinformation you received. This is not typical of our customer service.

In regards to the availability of an ecu upgrade for your Cayman, we unfortunately have not developed the ecu upgrade as to date for any year Cayman 2.7l.

The confusion stems from our electrical engineering team being the guys that interface with the dme's and speak mostly their coding language. These engineering duties do not require an understanding of the mechanical engineering aspects of our operation. These are the gentlemen however that take the mechanical engineering teams' product releases and post them to our Direct Port Programming online application suite so they are typically the authority on what is currently available. Within a 33+ employee organization some compartmentalization of information must occur and your experience was an unfortunate by product of this requirement.

That being said, I am immediately alerted through your experience that I have failed my Sales Team to some extent by not having properly disseminated the specifics of our available product range to them without the need to query our Electrical Engineering Team. I have redoubled my efforts to do so in hopes that no future clients will have to suffer the same confusion as took place in regards to your experience with APR.

I sincerely apologize and hope that once our calibration for the Cayman 2.7l is complete you will still consider us as an option for your enjoyment in light of this mistake.

Thank you Keith! I appreicate the answer and the information on what happened. Honestly it was the comment about not even knowing the car existed that I had to post something. So I appreicate the clarification on the issue, APR was my first choice. I am getting your exhaust this Friday and was really wanting to pair it with your ECU flash.

Thanks again...

Keith,

I was told by my local APR dealer that there is no software for my 2007 Cayman S. Is this true?
