Breaking up my Sand Beige Monotony...

My CPO'd car's specific options are what drew me to it some eight months ago. The only thing that I haven't been crazy about is my beige interior. I try to keep it clean, but light colors just seem to wear a little quicker. After some careful Ebay watching, I've made the modifications that you see in the following pictures. For under $300 I replaced my console, shifter, parking break, floor mats, and three other plastic bits on the console. I thought I'd share the pics in case anyone else wonders about going that direction.

My pictures are the ones in the quote boxes. The other pictures are ones I found in the gallery that were taken from the same approximate angle for comparison. I know it's a little bit of overkill, but since I was already here...

Care to share where you got these things for $300? I assume multiple sources. I like your choices, as I too have SB interior. I have the mactech rubber floor mats, which I originally got in brown....not good. I now have installed the black versions and that alone makes a big difference in the car (just as seen in your pics).

I gather you changed the following:
center console.
shifter and leather boot
parking brake
shroud at the base of the steering wheel
sport chrono face is now black.

I am most interested in the center console, shifter/boot and parking brake.

I would love to also chase your sources, hoping they were not one time/one item sales.

Anything you can offer would be helpful!

Looks nice. I have the sand beige interior as well. I've been patiently waiting for some leather bits to come across Ebay.
The only part I have trouble keeping clean is the shifter. Seems I am cleaning it with Porsche leather cleaner every other weekend.

Outstanding, I like that!

I also have SB with black WeatherTech mats. If I could locate those parts for $300 I'd do it. Maybe I'll start looking.

Now I think you could pull off a black steering wheel too

I like. I also have the sand beige interior with black floor mats, however I ordered the sports steering wheel with mine and requested it to be all black. Porsche came back and said they could do the rim in black but not the centre boss (go figure), which is what I ended up getting. It looks good, but I would really like to have a bit more black like the centre console, shift boot, etc. Any chance of Ebay addresses where you got them from (if not one offs).

Thanks for the kind words.

Good news and bad news - Unfortunately, not from one source... I've been very fortunate to mostly find new car take offs from private individuals. Seems like the 997 guys (primarily, but certainly not exclusive of the 987 guys) like to customize with alcantara and carbon fiber bits. If you're attentive, and a little lucky, you can catch them when they come up on the flea-bay.

center console - $1 ... and $20 shipping. This same guy also happened to have a parking break that he hadn't listed yet. $25 more and he sent that too. This was by far my luckiest buy. I've never seen another reasonably priced parking break on Ebay, but you see the take-off consoles from time to time for $100-$150.

shifter and leather boot - these come up from time to time. should be able to get one for @25 - $50

shroud at the base of the steering wheel - didn't change this... it looks like the leather covered ones are interior colored instead of black judging by one of the comparison pics

sport chrono face is now black - didn't change this one... though a comparison pic has a black SC face. I think the non S caymans have black gauge faces.

997-553-243-01-A03 Shift Gate Cover (U-shaped piece in front of the shifter)- $30 from dealer
997-553-579-00-A03 Blind Cap - $2 from dealer
Banana Piece in front of Park break - $15? from dealer

Since I don't want to be greedy...
Fun Shifter On German Ebay This looks awesome. If you can get them to ship out of Germany... and take a form of payment that doesn't suck... and you can read German... well, you get the idea. I guess I won't bid on this one. Have at it. Did I mentiona how cool it is?

I've been on the lookout for a black steering wheel... the problem is the airbag. I'm not as keen on a take-off of one of those and the new ones are more than I want to spend to replace a perfectly good tan one. I'm keeping my eyes peeled. There are bound to be some floating out there. What with all of those solid gold GT3RS wheels that got installed...

Good luck on the leather bits dreis44. I hardly ever see any tan pieces except for shifter/boots. You'll probably have to get really lucky and spot them as soon as some salvage company lists them... not too many people voluntarily taking off the leather pieces.

Do you have any pictures of your interior that you could share? I've been curious about this look.

Looks great. I have the sand beige interior and love the black accents. Still looking for seats with the deviated leather. Thanks for the info. If only it were $300 for leather pieces in black...
