With The SoftronicPlenum Hopefully coming SOON (???) for us 2.7 Liter Owners Has anyone Flashed their 2.7 ? and what is you personal Opinion .I think the Flash with the proposed Plenum will be a MUST DO for us 2.7 owners. For the $$$$ this will give the 2.7 more respectable numbers and In all honesty Most uf us that bought the 2.7 just could not afford the 3.4 correct? so for the $$$ we can come somewhat close to getting to the 300 HP mark (Aftermarket Exhaust,De-snorkel,Air Filter) and what not. The power is not Everything but Must admit I want it and a crew of my NON S boxster (Brothers) do as well .Hey Scott .."If you Build it they will come".. What is your Opinion?
Plenum
The plenum is the piece that goes between the Cayman throttle body and the intake runners. The factory piece is a long black plastic tube with a divider down the middle. There are aftermarket replacements which are designed to allow the air to flow easier/faster into the engine and increase horsepower and torque.
Softronic
SOFTRONIC produces DME programming and hardware to suit your companies specifications. Our current software suite is a complex matched set of programs housed in a Flash Manager and Flash Client. This software is matched with two cables, an End User and Master Cable. The SOFTRONIC proprietary flashing solution outperforms all other combinations in speed and accuracy including the factory Porsche equipment.
Too late For that .. I have already got my car looking the Way I want and I am not going to take a Hit for selling it .The point is clear here and no one with a 2.7 wants to be told they should have bought a 3.4 .That is old news to us.They are tons of 2.7 owners that have the same desires as the s model owners and we just want to MOD the heck out of our cars .A little more HP is an added bonus and for the $$$ it is a well worth Investment in my opinion.YES we all should have bought the S model if we wanted more power But that is a MUTE point now. The Plenum and the Flash will help us 2.7 owners acheive a greater HP and that is the point here ok .We are HAPPY with our 2.7 so please do not treat us like Idiots (No Offense) .Thanks

I agree I think the 2.7 has brought in a lot of new soon to be long time Porsche members with the Cayman 2.7. I was lucky enough to get the S and have been in your shoes with 2.0 liter Jetta and Audi before. Your car looks very nice Prodgers I like the wheels. Drew
I currently have the Softronic flash without Sport. You can get it with or without sport turned on - assuming that you do not have the button. If you do then, it continues to work like now.
The difference is small between Softronic and stock when it comes to power level, raised red line adds to flexibility if you need the extra RPMs.
I did experiment with Octane boosters (best I can get here is 92 Octane). They seem to work better after the flash. I have a feeling that when the gas allows Softronic will advance timing more than the stock software will.
I agree that Softronic with plenum will be compelling. You can start now, and upgrade later.

my garage: 2000 Audi S4 (not stock) | 2007 Porsche Cayman S (almost stock) | 2007 VW Passat 4Motion Wagon (still stock)
At the prices you pay in the USA there can be no excuse for buying a 2.7 Cayman, the 3.4 litre alternative is Cheap...........
(A BASE 2.7 Cayman in Europe is $72,000 - a BASE 3.4 Cayman S is $90,000)
If you wanted power, buy the original............... Then add more Power...............
Geee looky here, here you are again frowning on the 2.7L. Wow twice in one day kareldeeley we are so lucky to have your comments.
Prodgers, I will be flashing my, how did kareldeeley put it... "Pathetic Cheap SH1T 2.7" in a few weeks. I just got a new exhaust last Friday and haven't been to the dyno yet. I wanted to get run on a dyno before the flash so I knew what gave me what.

Y-DesygnGuy, cool... let us know what you find out. BTW, what exhaust did you install?

Yeah kareldeeley, we get that you think we're sub-human for choosing a 2.7. When you have something useful/constructive to add to the conversation, please chime in. Otherwise, give it a freakin' rest already.
Moderaters, can you do something about this offensive guy?
I can't wait till you guys post some results..I am yet another waiting in the wings....
Yes another 2.7...and not the seven tenths bigger engine....I could have went with a cs but since this was going to be a daily drive I wanted some amenities and to stand out a bit. There is more to Porsche than horsepower...my biggest decision was the quality of the workmanship...they take pride in what they build and it shows.
Adding a little horsepower here and there when the price is right is a perfect way for me to go...
I sent an email to the dyno shop this morning asking for a time this week. I got a B&B or APR exhaust whatever you want to call it installed last Friday. Looks great, sounds great and I swear it added a little power. I will most certainly let everyone know the dyno results.
Since APR doesn't have a flash for the 2.7L I am going to go with Softronic. I would say within the next few weeks I will have it flashed. I will then get another dyno run set up to find out those results also.
