Bilstein PSS9 spring noise, help!

I had PSS9's installed last week and now I am hearing quite a lot of spring noise at very low speeds (10-15 mph or less) when navigating tight spaces such as parking lots and parking spaces and when having to turn the steering wheel a lot. Why would that be? What can be done to fix this?

a common 'problem' with bilsteins - a 'twang' noise. no mechanical issues though. u can get it fixed through tony at tc design in milpitas. i told him i had this issue a while ago but i never bothered to fix it.

Yep, to use the acronym well-known to the Lotus guys (for various noises etc. with their cars), TADTS - which stands for "They all do that sir."

I have that too. I think it's cause of the helper spring and friction with the main. Nothing to be concerning about.

What does Tony at TC Design do to "fix it"? What is the cost?

I just called TC Design and they don't sell the parts anymore to fix the problem. He said they used to sell a thrust bearing for the struts to eliminate the noise.

I, too, have PSS9's and I have the twanging noise you refer to. It's only evident at parking speeds. It is not indicative of any problem. You just have to get used to it.

FYI, I took the Cayman to TC Design and they were able to almost completely get rid of the spring noise with the PSS9's set at 5 on all 4 corners. The lower the setting on the PSS9's the noisier things get.

Having the same problem with my JIC Cross setup.

My mechanic sent me to Bilstien. Bilstien sent me to Swift Springs. Swift has this product availalbe.

Swift Springs USA

I have a set of these trust sheets on order. It is supposed to eliminate the 'twang' altogether.

I'll report in when they are on the car.

Looks similiar to what was put on my car. If they are the same thing, it will greatly reduce the sound, eliminate?......not so much! I had mine dampening set at 5 (soft) and got almost no noise but got more noise when I went to 3 in front and 4 in back(harder). It is much better than it was, well worth the cost for me.

Do you know what sizes have been ordered for the fronts and rears?
