How do you remove electronic plug from plenum?

Ok,

I'm in the midst of converting my oem plenum to a softronic plenum. The instructions are great! My only problem so far is trying to remove the plug from the electronic component on the oem plenum.

From looking at the softronic plenum, there looks like two small tabs sticking out on either side of the component side. If this is the same for the oem, I can't see how to get the plug around the tabs.

At the very end of the plug (on eiher side) there is a very small slit/gap where you can slip a screwdriver in but it looks like I could end up breaking the plug itself before getting it over the tabs.

Do I need to squeeze something and slip it off? Do I need to slip something into gaps and pull out?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

If you're talking about the throttle body: First, unclip the wires from the little metal clip holding them in place (a couple of inches away from the plug, on the bottom of the throttle body). Then, squeeze both sides of the plug at the throttle body and slide the plug straight out. If you try to unplug without first pulling the wires out of the support clip, you won't be able to pull the plug out. Also, you don't need to squeeze too hard, just enough to disconnect the little lock tabs.

Good Luck!

You need to press on the narrow sides of the connector closest to the cable and then pull the connector apart - mine was supposed also to do this - but I ended up breaking one of the clips..............

Never mind - when I re-connected I used a wire tie to hold the connector together as only one side was clipped securely - there is not a problem with this at all..... Good luck

Thank you both for the response. It's such a tight fit that I can't get a good look at how the plug is clipped in.

BillC, not sure if it is the throttle body but it is the plug that is attached to the "U" shaped part of the plenum. I don't remember the wires being held by a clip but will check again. I wish I could access the article section so I can point it out but I seem to be having problems getting to it.

kareldeeley, I think I tried squeezing the narrow sides before but it didn't seem like there was any give.

I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for the help! If anybody has any other suggestions, please let me know.

When you grip those sides push it in a bit before wiggling it back out. Sometimes one side will come out before the other.

I once used a screw driver to help move the tabs out a bit to help.

Good deal. It came off as you guys said. In fact, I feel kind of embarrassed asking after seeing how easy it was.

Thank you all very much.
