I was out at TPC this week to check out the Turbo Cayman. Michael Levitas, 2006 Rolex 24 Hour Of Daytona Winner, took me for an exhilarating test drive in one of the cars he just completed for a customer. The car is simply awesome. Here is a link to my video report:
I spent a lot of time talking to Tom and Mike about how much effort and quality control they have put into this kit. They showed me the materials, manufacturing process, everything. These guys really know how to make a turbo. If you are looking for more power, this is really the only way to go.

Yeah, not sure if that would've helped. I'm trying to remember if it started going downhill when I mentioned warranty etc...

I just showed up one day last week with my video camera and asked about the kit. I have no affiliation with TPC but they did install my Quaife TBD a few months ago. I asked about the kit when they did the Quaife install and Tom told me to come back in a month or so when they expected to have some customer cars in the works. He called me a week ago and reminded me to come by. They were really great about showing me around the shop and allowing me to video. I told Tom there was a lot of interest on the Cayman Club fourm but not a lot of pictures or video except for one 10 second fly by of the prototype car. I think the video turned out pretty well and asked Mike if it was OK to post on Youtube.
LSD - Limited Slip Differential
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

I think the video turned out pretty well and asked Mike if it was OK to post on Youtube.
To allay anyone's concerns about privacy issues, Mike asked for and received permission from the car's owner before allowing the test ride, the video or the youtube posting.
Did Mike mention the grand total (installed) for that car. If I remember correctly, he only had the turbo installed and no suspension work?
Thanks!
