Stock Plenum/Throttle Body Dimensions Please

For those who have put in the RSS IPD race plenum with enlarged throttle body or for those who have put in the Softronic plenum and larger throttle body, could you please provide the following dimensions on your old stock parts:

* Outside diameter of the stock plenum (987.110.116.01) where it mounts to the engine intake manifolds (left red line in figure)

* Outside diameter of the throttle body (997.605.115.00) where it mounts to the tube to the MAF/air filter (right red line in figure)

Hopefully, some you guys have the stock parts lying around. I am trying to figure out if the leftover parts will fit the 2.7L or 3.2L. I don't trust my PET (8/06). If so, I will place a WTB in the classifieds

Softronic has a 2.7 Plenum available now if that is what you are looking for ? I am sure there are lots of 3.4 owners that have their old Plenums just lying around for sale

Also I know that the 3.4 stock Plenum will NOT fit the 3.2 and 2.7 liter motors they have different Boot sizes from what I was told.

Thanks, prodgers, for the speedy reply.

The different boot sizes may be the fly in the ointment in "recycling" these slightly larger intakes. The stock 987.110.055.01 (987 2.7L & 3.2L) is 87mm O.D. at the intake manifolds (left red line above). If the 3.4L one is a few mm bigger, then I'm sure the boots would stretch, but if it's like 5mm, that might not work.

I'll have to give Scott a ring--the old-fashioned way. (I tried a couple new-fashion electronic ways.) The 2.7L would likely fit the 3.2L Boxster, then, but must be a completely different plenum or use the stock throttle body, etc. Maybe the stock throttle body breathes enough on the 2.7L, but I'm actually looking for the 3.2L. I'll give a ring and find out. Thanks!

The plenum will not fit the 3.2 or 986 2.7 either. You are correct in that they are 5mm in size difference.

Best,
Scott

From another thread I found (2.7 Softronic RP....anyone have any information?), it is rumored that you are working on a plenum for the 2.7/3.2.

Does the one you're allegedly working on use the 5mm bigger stock 3.4L T.B. (74mm), or the same 80mm as the 3.4L "race" T.B., or are you still figuring that out? Whatever you develop will also fit the 986 2.7L and 3.2L with a simple modification. I can send you pics.

I'm staying tuned! Do you have a preferred email or contact?

The 2.7 M97 engine for now and not the M96. I will have something for that in the future.

Best,
Scott
