Installation Instructions for Software

This info is unfortunately always getting buried in the threads.

This is the link to download the Softronic software that will read and write to your car. Please download and install this.

Next after software install:

1. Plug in the cable to the USB and let the computer install it automatically. Should it ask if you want to, say yes and allow it. THIS HAS to be done just after the software is installed and before the program is run.
2.Plug the cable into the OBD2 port or also known as the diagnostic port.
3.Turn on the key.
4. Launch the software and after it reads and when you get to the "Comments " fill in if you want Sport mode, what year, model and trans you car has, manual or auto, name and email address.
5. The file will then upload.
6. Turn Off the key and unplug the cable, you may use the car until you receive the new files to tune.
6. I will then send you your files within 24 hrs or your tuner.

Should you not see a "Next" button at the bottom of the screen you will have to change the DPI from 120 to 96 or Normal

Best,

Scott

The Durametric is a separate program and doesn't have anything to do with the Softronic - you can just download it from their website and use it whenvever you would like to run diagnostics on the car ( you don't need a battery charger on the car, but they do recommend that your laptop be on AC power).

The battery charger is not absolutely necessary, but highly recommended for the Softronic programming. When you run the Softronic software, the radiator fan will run like gangbusters while the program is running. Depending on the speed of your laptop (which should be on AC power for max processor speed) and quality/speed of your internet connection, the reading/writing processes could take anywhere from 10-20 minutes. If you have a new, charged battery you will probably be okay as long as there aren't any hang-ups while running the software. Be sure to temporarily disable any programs (like anti-virus) that may try to automatically update or run while you are connected to the internet.

It sounds like you got through part of step 4 in the steps outlined by Scott. In other words the software was launched and your key was switched to 'On' but I can't be sure if you successfully uploaded your file. The reason I say this is because I distinctly remember putting in comments about what I wanted in the new flash. It might be worth going through it again to see.

Sorry I can't be of help. Screen shots may be helpful if possible.

Good luck!

I'm a little confused on where you are in the process.

1. read your existing software and upload it to Scott w/ car details and sport yes or no.

2. He will send you a revised flash that you install.

It sounds like you chose install instead of read. (it's been a while since I flashed mine)

Guys:

Do you need to have internet connectivity for the reading? Can I just read and save it and send to Scott later?

Or does this program need to have the internet connectivity to read and upload to Scott at the same time.

Many thanks! Still waiting for the package!

If I remember correctly, you have to have internet connectivity. Once upon a time there was a big thread on this.

prodgers, can you post what you did differently to get it to work? I'm sure others will go through this same thing as well.

Thanks!
