Softronics Race Plenum Owners

This post is for Softronics race plenum & Flash Owners. I am not interested in other mods unless they are combined with the plenum/flash. I want to share and listen to others experiences:

1. I have experienced increased performance, butt dyno only. My car was allready flahed with the Softronics software before I installed the plenum. I did the car without the plenum flash, (but with the original flash) and I got a nicer sound, performance increase was not noticeable. Once the flash was performed it got better. My perception was that it improved noticeably after I drove it 20 to 30 miles. The car seems to pull much better from about 4000rpm on and when it reaches 5000rpm up to 6000rpm it feels great.

2. My fuel consumption has increased. Is it because I am driving more agressively, or because the car uses more fuel. My impression is that it uses more fuel.

3. So far I am happy with it. I have not had a chance to take it to the track, but I am looking forward to it. I also like to thank Scott Slauson for this mod.

4. I have not used race fuel, higher octane. I am considering it. I am interested in comments from anybody that has done it.

5. My car has a Miltek headers and catback, EVO air intake, desnorkled, Mantis underdrive pulley, and of course the Softronics Plenum/Flash

Thanks in advance

In a very careful 700 mile highway test I found no reduction in fuel economy at a cruise speed of 78 mph. If anything, I saw a slight increase in mpg after installing the SRP/flash (maybe a 1 mpg improvement).

I tried 100 octane unleaded race fuel once. I could not feel any difference. Last September Scott posted that the change from 91 octane to 100 octane was worth a 2% power increase.

That was my recollection as well, that it adds maybe 5-6 HP. I run race gas at the track, because I want to maximize the power (since the Softronic programming allows the engine to take advantage of higher octane, if only a little bit), and because the highest non-race gas octane I can get around here is 91.

The only problem I've had where race gas is concerned is the price ($6.50/gal last month) and the fact that my credit card company froze my credit card when they started getting several $60+ charges from the same source in Oklahoma (the track that I was at) over a 2 day period. (I had to call them to explain that it was really me using the card).

I haven't had a chance to run the SRP with the new flash at the track yet, but like others, I have noticed a subjective increase in performance from 4-6K RPMs, which should help particularly on the track.

Both myself and KarelDeeley are at the race track next Friday. I have been waiting to get the car on the track before posting my overall impressions. What I have noticed is that the car is much more economical. On a longer run down the motorway's in the UK. When I drove to Alcon a couple of weeks ago (maybe 120 miles) I returned >30 mpg which in 2 1/2 years of ownership is unheard of: best previous was about 26-27 !!

I just installed and test my SRP. Awesome power increase from previous softronic flash.

My car is stock except for SRP and de-snorkle.

For those of you who were previous softronic customers, were you using the old USB OBDII cable that Scott had sent you for your the Softronic software? I read a few posts where people were having trouble using the old cable.

I am using the original cable, but I purchased the durametric software from day one. My orignal software was not that old I installed in in January of this year.
