Softronic software install trouble....

Hey fellas,

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to connect the Softronic software to my CaymanS. I followed the directions, installed the software on my laptop, etc. But every time I try and connect to the cars ECU I get up to the point of "resetting cable" and an error message always pops up. Thats where the session ends and I cannot get past. Any ideas?? We are installing the plenum this afternoon and I would really like to have the software to match. Ideas?

I PM'd Scott about this...but figured maybe someone one here had the same issue.

You have to have an internet connection to do this - my wireless was unreliable so I went to the UK version of Radio Shack and bought a 60 foot Network cable and hard wired the laptop (which was by the car due to the short softronic cable) to my internet hub in my study...........

Hope that this helps...

Send an email to Scott or call him. I don't think he checks his PM's here very often.

Oh...it has to be connected to the internet WHILE reading the ECU?!? Jeeze...that would have been good info to include in the instructions! Thanks mate!

Yes you must be connected to the internet every time you attempt to read or write the ECU according to the instructions I saw. Also I would suggest calling Scott in addition to the Email suggestion already given.

You are Welcome...............

Yes you need these circumstances for success.................

1) Car Battery on Charger........ The Software will check this - if not will stop
if there is a shutdown failure during download it could damage your ECU. (not good)

2) Laptop on Charger ........... Higher speed cpu and secure operation

3) Internet Connection........... to xfer original data to Scott which he will 'massage' and return to you sometime later..............

4) Laptop connection to Cayman

And you must have the appropriate drivers for the cable interface (provided in the original download from Scott or found through the internet connection)

You have to then follow he instructions on the software............

Again I hope that this helps you to be successful........

Ken, I spend a lot of time 'helping' on this site.........

Yes I 'blott my copybook' with remarkable regularity when I react to 'stinkers' and you have to remove my excesses.......... Any chance of a medal? Just trying to keep up with Tess................

Well I got the identical same problem yesterday.
Seems to be some incompatability with the older cable. You have the cable from some time ago, yes? I do.
I had internet the whole time to no avail. Anyway, you cant get to the cable test part of the process until the internet check passed. You must have had it. (?)
I've emailed Scott, but no solution yet.
