softronic software

so i have done some searching and reading...now have a couple questions

1. can you just do the softronic software (flash?) without the plenum? is it worth it without the plenum (ie: performance gains)?

2. can you still buy the softronic software from the website (i read about the gb bring discontinued, i think this was for the softronic plenum combination)?

Yes you can and yes you can notice the difference. I've got it on my CS 08

2. can you still buy the softronic software from the website (i read about the gb bring discontinued, i think this was for the softronic plenum combination)?
I'm not that impressed with the service you get, so be careful before you spend your hard earned money. I had read on these boards about a sports switch so you don't have to keep re-mapping the car, and if you mention it when ordered you would get it. I mentioned it and didn't get it, and since asking via pm on this site and direct emails, have never heard a thing since getting my software. I don't know if my experience is typical or not, but I would advise caution before going to softronic.

Forgive me - but I think you are incorrect - can you point to the thread that you mentioned - that mentions, a 'Sports Switch' with Softronic Software?

If I can help you understand how to change from 'Standard' to 'Tuned' Mapping - perhaps that would help? Please PM Me

As for Softronic the service is good (not outstanding) but you must understand the limitations of any operation............

+1 On that Karel .Only my Experience with Softronic has Been EXCELLENT service.when I was doing my install on a SUNDAY Scott sent me a PM when I had a Question. Seriously how many companys can you get ahold of within 15minutes via E-mail on a Sunday? I would work for softronic any day.. I did JUST the flash and It has made a considerable Difference in the Tourque and Hp in my car .I think the numbers softronic posts are very close and accurate to what you get. Karel .I drank 6Bittburgers last night how about you?

You will let Softronic know what kind of car you have and wether you want sport mode or not when you read your CPU to be upgraded. The Softrinic software can either turn Sport Mode on or leave it off (it's either always on or off). You can reflash the car back to the origional software to remove sport mode.
It is possible to retrofit a functional Sport Button at an extra cost.

Getting the "sport" switch/button installed is another set of options. That would require you to send Softronic your ECU to have it configured, along with ordering the switch and installing it in your console as well.

If you want, you can always get the software alone and with the sport mode enabled to get the extra HP and sport mode if you desire.

You are Correct - Scott provides an excellent service (but when he is busy elsewhere - it is sometimes less than perfect) Overall the service from Scott is honest and he tries to please everyone. However he is only one man.....

And Yes - I drank 1/2 a litre of Gin last night (shame on me) How did you Know?

Sorry for the delay in reply - but I am watching 2 soccer matches in the European Championships as well - Holland has just scored.....

Scott posts very accurate numbers, he does not do 'Marketing Speak' I would trust him with my life..........

Hopefully I can help with others installation questions..........

PS. I am not employed by Scott - I paid for everything I have from Softronic - maybe I just understand a little (after all I am a 53 year old wannabe racer!).
