hi...I am not sure if anyone has posted this. Just a simple question:
Can I safely say that all aftermarket exhaust that can fit a Cayman S, fit the Cayman 2.7l model as well?
I am thinking of either getting the Milltek / Borla or the AWE exhaust system.
By the way, my porsche comes with the Sports Chrono. If I do not activate the Sports button, does it mean the aftermarket exhaust will be quieter?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Chamster.
Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.

Every aftermarket exhaust firm I spoke with before going with FabSpeed said that was the case, but I would check with a specific vendor before ordering. At least with their system the tone is just slightly louder than stock at idle, up to about 2500 rpm when it really starts drowning (UGG!), quiets down above 4000, then starts getting quite loud above 5500 or so, getting louder all the way to redline.
My understanding of the sport chrono option is that it "livens up" the throttle response; I can't imagine it would effect exhaust tone in and of itself.

There are no physical differences between the 2.7 and 3.4 exhaust systems, so if it fits one, it fits both.
Sport Chrono will make no difference. You are probably thinking about the Porsche Sport Exhaust. That system is tied to Sport Chrono. It opens two valves in the exhaust when you activate sport mode, making it louder. It's the only system that is tied to Sport Chrono.
Take a look at these two threads to learn all you wanted to know, and then some, about the Borla and AWE systems:

Introduction planned for 04/2007. Some models may require additional components. For detailed information about this product, please contact your Porsche dealer.

I would disagree. I would say the 2.7 owners are heavier. How much does $10,000 weigh.....?

When I was in the mid-east, they had a phrase - phonetic - "Koolcha Nisbea": means, everything is relative.
Another that comes to mind now that I think of it was "Life is like a cucumber - sometimes it's in your hand -- sometimes it's in your ***; which of course has nothing to do (well usually, ha) with Cayman drivers.
Now were talking you guys LOL.....Dan you sound so Educated ,No wonder you have a 2.7 .Yea 2.7 owners are smarter ..sorry Gator.. 2.7 owners +1 and Moderators -1 yes we know how to keep score too
