The stock seat latches will work fine, OK to cut the wire and transfer. I plan to swap the seats back and forth (or perhaps transfer to my next Porsche, since when I sell I doubt the next owner will plan to track the car). I am buying another set of latches for this reason.
Dealer (in Houston) easily took care of the
PIWIS programming, BUT I took in all the instructions from the articles and forum threads on the subject. While there, I also had them set the windows to drop an inch whenever the rear hatch is opened......BEST....MOD......EVER! The dealer was doubtful when I asked, but since I provided a copy of instructions from Cayman Club, he said they would try - took them 10 minutes.
Stream of consciousness issues on the install ( I got seats, anti-sub-bar (ASB) and harness from
Suncoast):
First, my seats came totally assembled, except for the separate ASB. After an hour of trying, I could find no way to put on the ASB without taking the seat bucket apart from the frame and rails. If you find a way, please post it.
Next, it is possible to put the ASB on upside down. Everything fits, you just cannot move the seat adjust lever. If you do this, you have to take the seat apart AGAIN to correct it.

This is CORRECT:
The anti-sub belt is a pain to adjust in the car. Set the length with the seat out - much easier. This was my final length( 6'1", thin):
What about right/left issues? The seat adjust lever goes next to the gear shift tunnel on both sides. The left belt is #99680303791, right belt is #99680303891, and I got a fun fact from the guys at
Suncoast: many right/left part numbers differ by 1 digit in the ninth position. Even number is right side, odd number is left side.
To put the seat in the car, I found the best way was holding it horizontally, headrest into car first, almost all the way to the far window, then place the base down and rotate the seat to vertical.
Before putting it in, count the holes on the rails to make sure that both sides of the seat are set to the same location.
Now, kind of a big issue: after I started the bolts in the rear, the holes in the front did not line up. Got three out of four, and the last one was at least 1/4" off. Put a big screwdriver in the seat track at arrow:
and pryed like a SOB, finally got the last bolt started. This was the same on both sides. Please post your experience.
Suggestion for easier install (have not tried this yet, but plan to). Bolts that hold seat shell to frame (see arrows):
Easy access to all 4 with a box end wrench. I plan to leave these 4 bolts about 1-2 turns loose for next install, see if that allows the seat rails to move enough for easy install, then snug up the 4 bolts as a last step.
And finally, a SUPER endorsement for racing seats and 6-point harness. You will feel so planted in the car, driving becomes much easier. You can also learn much faster; my first DE's were like leaning to play the piano while riding on a roller coaster - possible, but slow progress. With the seats and harness, more like that nice piano bench in the living room - you can pay attention to subtle inputs to the car.
