Softronic Uploading Error...

Hi.

A couple hours ago I plugged my laptop to my Boxster using the Softronic supplied cable. Everything started working perfectly, all the checklist were ok and I got to the point of writing the specifications I wanted. After that I hit the button to upload the information to Scott and while it was doing that an error appeared. I emailed Scott with this info but haven't received a response yet. I'm just trying to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.

The error said the following:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Were you connected to the internet? Can you connect to Welcome to Softronic.us from a web browser per the instructions? Are you behind a firewall? Do you need to use a proxy server?

Internet was working because I was reading the instructions from my email. I have a crappy anti-virus that I forgot to shut down, don't know if that could have made a difference. And I have no idea what a proxy server is, I was using the wireless connection from my house.

Turn off or disable your anti-virus software and try the procedure again, follow the instruction to the letter and see what happens. The wireless connection to the internet is fine to use for this task as long as you have a strong signal, I did mine this past weekend with a wireless connection and had no problems at all with Softronic flash.

Good Luck

I'm sure there is a better place to post this but, I sent an e-mail to the address listed on the softronic website and didn't hear back:

- Where can I buy it?
- Since I didn't get the sport button option - this would be a good replacement right?

Anyone have any experiance using a virtual machine (VMware) on a Mac to run the software?

Thanks,
-Adam

Scott is a pretty busy guy and he doesn't come around here to check posts very frequently. You problem seems very specific and you are messing with some very sensitive and complicated systems. It's great that the members have stepped up to help you, but with all due respect to everyone, if I were you I'd pick up the phone, call Scott and I wouldn't do a thing until I heard from him.

Good luck. I'm sure Scott will get you straightened out.

Looks like the application is written in Visual Studio, this does look like the kind of errors it would show!

I'd suggest turning off your antivirus and most importantly your firewall and trying again!

In looking at the very first line of your errer "Cant connect to remote server" I suspect your firewall is kicking in.

Turn off your firewall and do not forget to also turn off the WINDOWS firewall too.

Sometimes if you disable your firewall, the windows firewall may kick in to compensate.

Shut off your antivirus too just in case.

I tried again this morning with both the anti-virus and Windows firewall disabled. I'm starting to think my computer is the one responsible for freezing halfway. I'll give it another try with another laptop that has Windows XP, if not I'll have to give Scott a call. I'll let you know how it ends up.

Thanks for your advice.

Hello All,

I will always say it is much easier to call Softronic for a question than posting on forums. Should you be running Vista then perhaps try re booting first.

Best,
Scott

I defer to Scott, but suggest you DO NOT use VMWare, Parallels, Virtual PC or any other emulation software to run Softronics. Scott was VEHEMENT when he insisted we USE BOOT CAMP ONLY when running on an Intel Chip Mac.

Also, I point out that there are 2 separate setup files that must be run before you use the Softronics software the first time. One installs the NET framework stuff and the drivers, and the other installs the Softronics files. You must run them both or it won't work.

The first time you successfully run the program, it reads your DME and automatically sends them to Scott. He will email you the original and tuned files for you to use for updating. Each time you run the software, you MUST have an active internet connection and your virus software turned off.

It's a GREAT product.

Greg
