Thumbs down is this welding normal????????? Milltek

I know there are two types of Milltek exhaust for it.

1. CAT-BACK - Inc. Rear Catalysts
2. CAT-BACK - Exc. Rear Catalysts

I got this used and I think it got welded after wards.

The part that was removed was not a catalytic converter. It was just a part of the muffler system. There are no cats in the Milltek muffler system.

Well it seems like the last owner wanted the system to be a bit louder... as far as if it added or reduced power, you never know. Surely it reduced back pressure, but that may or may not be a good thing. You could try it on and see if you like the sound.

There was an article by someone on the forum regarding cutting the small pre-mufflers off and welding straight pipes on. He posted pics of the job as he was working underneath the car. He stated the welds were a little sloppy, but exhaust was louder(which he wanted). Same guy?

CaymanQT,
As stated in your answers above, this exhaust is NOT as it left the factory, and has had the silencer cans removed to make the system louder. Which may, or may not be acceptable to you. As long as you realize that it’s been modified.

As a Milltek dealer in the UK, you would also have to understand that by modifying the system then, all/any warranty would be void, if this is acceptable put it on your car, if not Don’t…!!

You can't see the modified pipe from this picture. Have you been deceived into buying this?

Others have correctly identified the issue for you. Did you contact the seller if you don't like what has been done? Certainly if they didn't disclose that you would have the right to be angry for being deceived and seek your money back. Where did you buy the system from? If it came from a member here let me know as I do not want any members here decieving others.

MillTek Make TWO different CatBack Muffler Systems...........

1) With Secondary Catalytic Converters
2) Without Secondary Catalytic Converters

Perhaps the original owner got a system with Cats by Mistake and decided to delete them himself?

Certainly it was hidden in the 'Dodgey' Photograph............

PS
They also used to make TWO Headers

3) 100 Cell Race Cats
4) 200 Cell Race/Street Cats

parapa1524 I got it from him here locally. The exhaust was very dirty and the deal was at night time. The exhaust was covered up with newspapers. I thought this was the one without the cat version since I looked up on Milltek website. I called him and He said there's no way He will return my money and hung me up. He never mentioned about the welding either on the bidding page or on the phone. I got ripped too. $1300USD Thought He was trust worthy but turns up to be an asshole. I might make a lawsuit against him.

I thought this guy was decent. He lives in a not bad apartment. He goes to porsche club here and sells items to bmw and porsche communities. I went to his garage before. Before I was going to get a cayman s I looked at his and thought he is trust worthy. He got 4 cars at his crib. A4, SL55, 964 and a CS. Taiwan's Porsche community is already small enough and He is got guts to fool me like this. It's pretty sad over just $1300usd. I wouldn't mind if He told me in advance that it got welded.
