Carrera GT / GT3 RS bucket seats

I have the possibility to change my sportseats in the official CGT / RS seats. Cost my around 10K euro's. Is it worth it. I like the seats a lot. I do occasionaly trackdays. But the feeling with the car is so much more fun with bucket seats. The problem apart from the price...... is that the side airbag must go. So i will be removing a safety feature for side impact. What do guys think of this issue...

If you do a search, you'll find several threads about the 997 sport bucket seats (or just look at "Similar Threads" at the bottom of the page). They include side airbags and should bolt right in. Also, they should cost less than 10K Euros, since the US price to retrofit those seats is about $9K, and the dollar is pretty low compared to the Euro right now.

Yes I know, but those aren't the 997 bucket seats. Those seats where only available for the CGT and the 997 GT3 RS and optional for the GT3.

I would go for the 997 GT2 seats, bucket seats with side airbags and you get get them now full leather for $8000 US, shipping to where you are at will cost more of course. Slightly heavier then the 997 GT3/carrera GT seats.

They look like nice seats, but no side airbags.

If you want seats with side airbags, the only option that I am aware of is the 997 sport bucket. That's what I was trying to say in my previous post.

i too would say go with the GT2 seats. they are gorgeous, and comfortable when i sat in them, and have an adjustable fore/aft for the back unlike the GT3/CGT seats, which is also good for getting to the cargo net over the engine.

This is not true....the back angle is fixed. The only adjustment for the GT2 sports bucket is the ability to move the complete seat fore and aft.

that is actually what i meant, that they slide forward like the reg or sport seats do.

thanks all. I will go for the gt2 seats. I don't want to give up the airbag. And the seats look great!

Don't know if you know that you can get 996 GT3 euro seats for about $2500 in leather with the sliders and mounts from Suncoast...they are Recaro's and have the Porsche crest on the top. WAYYYYYY cheaper and very nice.

that is true...they are a fantastic seat too, for nearly nothing compared to the 997 GT3 or 997 GT2 seats.
