I love the system and it works great - but it is definitely to loud for me.
Canīt use the car on track days anymore, and a lot of people are anoyed around here.
If I canīt find a solution to get it quieter when opening up, I will remove it this autumn. Will keep the manifold and use the original Porsche sport exhaust with valves instead.
It is a pitty it is designed so loud that you cant use it for autocrossing or ordinary track days.
PSE - Porsche Sports Exhaust System
The acoustics of this dual-mode sports exhaust system are dependent on driving style, ranging from standard output during normal road driving to a more aggressive tone during performance use. Modes are selected using a button on the center console (or Sport mode button on vehicles with optional Sport Chrono Package/Sport Chrono Package Plus).
Introduction planned for 04/2007. Some models may require additional components. For detailed information about this product, please contact your Porsche dealer.

I think "loud" is in the ear of the beholder, what is loud to one person is not loud enough to another. The whole point of the Capristo valve system is to have the car quiet under normal driving and then louder and freer flowing under performance driving. Certainly this was clear from the videos posted on this site and on YouTube was it not? If the valves open puts you beyond some limit for decibels set by a track then either you can drive a different track with no such limit, or you could disconnect the valves and leave them closed although Capristo cautions that doing so increases the backpressure in the exhaust system which may have negative results - so far it isn't proven to have negative results, but Capristo is issuing that warning so people go into it with both eyes open. Contact a member here named arcticsilver who put in his own over-ride switch and ask him how that is working out for him.

Capristo exhaust systems for the Cayman. The Capristo valve system allows the Cayman to be relatively quiet in cruise speeds but to sound like an F1 car when the valves are open.

Youtube can never really capture what living with the exhaust is like. At best it's an approximation.
I know as I order an exhaust myself, I really dont know what it will be like living with it.
So if you find it annoying. And if others complain and it makes you feel uncomfortable then sell it.
If others are just being obnoxious themselves and you really like the exhaust and find the performance benefit to yor liking then to hell with the others and keep it.
Either way, do what you need to to keep enjoying your car.
Around here they are really cracking down on noise limits at the track and I think it's not a crazy idea...let me explain.
two weeks ago we had a track weekend at a new track that was built off an old airport and thus it has no sound limits. Everyone got excited and took out all of their sport mufflers and installed the race stuff or took out baffles etc. Needless to say, it was loud. Too loud in fact; there was a 944 (N/A) that was so loud that we all hoped that it would blow up and go away...and it also got us thinking that the sound limits are not so crazy.
I'm sure the capristo sounds great but I for one would be a bit shy driving it around town and having everyone cover their ears if i got on it a bit. At the track there is no way that it would pass the 92db at 50' so i would have spent like $5000 for nothing.
I think that if we want to keep enjoying the sport we all love (track time) then we will have to make certain compromises. I'm happy with the sound that the Milltek (minus the pre-mufflers) makes and I am still well under the limit. Really loud exhaust systems annoy people who are trying to enjoy something other than motorsport and unfortunatly for us, there are far more of them than us!
I used to race enduro-cross (dirt bikes) and there was a big crackdown on mufflers a few years back and now everyone is pretty cool about running "quiet" performance mufflers. This allows us to ride on more land and not piss off farmers and those with country homes near the trails and tracks we go to.
Loud pipes save lives but they may get us kicked off our tracks!
Anyway, that's my rant...

You all need to come to Kansas where you are out in the middle of nowhere and sound doesn't bother others. Now I'm not advocating running open headers, I'm simply saying that while the Capristo is loud at WOT you can drive it around town without ever opening the valves in stock form. You can also tune the programming to open the valves later (higher rpms) to further reduce the amount of time the valves are open. A car that is obnoxiously loud is one thing, but the Capristo is not that, and tracks that have noise restrictions are due to the surrounding communities that don't want to hear them. When NASCAR comes to town you can hear those cars for miles and miles away, but no one seems to be complaining about that noise because of all the $$$$ it brings to town.
I should also add that there are many cars at the tracks I frequent that are louder than my Capristo setup and from idle all the way on up, whereas the Capristo is quiet in slower corners and places I don't have the throttle pegged. One "good" thing about an exhaust that you can at least hear is that it can help you judge your rpms without even looking at the tach and taking your eyes off the road as well as throttle position, etc.
So no I don't advocate open headers and 200 decibels, but I do think that the Capristo "should" be allowed to run. I don't know anyone who has measured it at 50 feet with valves open and valves closed but at Croctoberfest we can do that since someone is bringing a sound meter for the exhaust shoot out.

I think Kansas is a bit uniq. Here in Sweden and probably rest of EU there is not a singel raceway that would alowe this sound level. Didnīt think of that when I bought it, but now I realize I made a real misstake buying this system. No idea having a fast car - not being able to use it. I think everyone not living in Kansas should check the sound regulations before they buy the system.
measuring sound is a serious science...get this, my modified Milltek passed sound the other day (as it always does) but a stock cayman S did not! The guy got black flagged due to sound. It was an overcast and humid day and that seems to keep the sound "in". What I find weird is that the cars with the higher pitched exhausts get black flagged more often then lower pitched cars.
A CS at full throttle makes a high pitched whoosh sound and got nailed, F360's and F430's get nailed more than a GT3RS or 944 Turbo (open 3" exhaust). A radical with full muffler gets nailed more easily than a race prepped C6 Z06 Vette with turn downs...
I always thought that bass traveled further and with more power than treble...but what do i know?
The Ferrari SP33 (like $6 million race car...) sounded sick and was right around the limit but the McLaren F1LM was WAYYYY over and horribly annoying andf I could hear it way into town (but wow, what a car!)

I heard Ken's system at the Porsche Parade and it is awesome. I thought my Borla was loud until I heard his Capristo. Loud as in wonderful motorsport music not ricer noise. If I had any system other than the
