Paint the whole fog light system or just the bars?

With the new 2010 cayman renderings lacking the "fog light bar" (those two things holding the foglights) and the frames being entirely black...*AND* seeing too many vw beetles looking like caymans at night (yes they do from your rearview mirror) *AND* finding black spraypaint in my garage while i was cleaning up over the weekend, I decided to temporarily paint the fog light bars. I've seen the techart cars where they paint the entire fog system black but i just wanted to paint the bars since i think having floating silver circles at night make the fog lights look big... Whatcha think? Should I paint the cirles too?

I painted the whole thing because I started with black primed bars but I really like the look that you have.

I've been rolling some of these ideas around in my head, too. I also have a silver Cayman, so you're doing some of my experimenting by proxy. (Thanks!)

I like the look of the Techart cars, but I'm struggling a bit with the little black pointed ends protruding into the bumper area--so I haven't gone that route (yet).

Leaving the area that surrounds the lamp is pretty interesting. It's definitely not a "thumbs down."

Smart move to paint the tape. I looked into getting a spare set of spears and my dealer quoted a price of $174 each!

BTW, the spears can be removed separately. No need to remove the top piece.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I'm looking forward to seeing what look you settle on.

The TechArt spears are painted silver. I painted mine, but changed to plain unpainted spears. To me the silver took away from the front of my black Cayman.

Cool, I have a white car, and the white spears look a bit much to me, going flat black would be an improvement, IMO.

I saw a white cayman on the street but had no camera at the time but this guy painted the ridges under the foglights white and it looked interesting ala the ridges of a 997 turbo. at first glance, it looked like a 959

Here's a photoshop

That's pretty neat as well, has better balance to my eyes. Thanks for posting.
