Porsche Short Shifter Kit

I am thinking about purchasing the Porsche short shifter kit 99742498300. I was wondering if anyone who has this can tell me if it comes with installation directions? Also, as I understand, it's pretty much a swap out . Also, can you please confirm that I would not have to cut anything?

Thanks in advance

You don't have to cut anything. It's a very easy job - it took me about 2 hours taking it slow. There are no instructions with the part, but there are detailed instructions posted here at the Caymanclub. If you get ready to do it PM me and I'll send you some tips.

Thumbs up

Although I didn't install it myself (had the dealer put it in together with the Quaife TBD), I can confidently say that you will love this mod. Enjoy!

Love this mod.

Just heed the warning, be careful not to scrape the console against the e-brake handle when removing it as that leather is soft. Or put a sock or tape over the handle before pulling the console up. Don't ask me how I know.

For the record, here are the tips I sent isst:

There are 2 articles you'll need to study. Start with this one: http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/sh...oduct=13&cat=3

Note that the approach described in that article does not lead to the easiest job. A better approach is described by Swancoat in the reviews at the end of the article. The job is much easier if you do what Swancoat suggests.

It's easier to pry apart the interior bits if you use these tools: http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/sh...duct=179&cat=6.

Regarding the knob, be sure to disassemble the knob as described here http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/sh...oduct=27&cat=4. Then read my comments in the review at the end of that article. I describe the correct procedure for removing the boot from the shift lever.

Finally, the instructions for removing the leather boot from the console are not quite clear. What you want to do is pry it off the console at its front edge. It will then pivot up, and after the front edge is lifted off, then the back part easily disconnects from the console.

Do all this, and you'll have no trouble. Have fun!

+1...mine also came as a factory option. its nicely weighted, precise and a VERY short throw.
