I know now that I paid too much for 90% job but needed it on from delivery. Figure I can live with it for year or two and then get it replaced with a 100% install (Maybe Invinca Man install).....since our area is really bad for rocks and debris. I am trying to get behind the intakes to screen them off and hopefully cut down on the rocks & such I have to vacuum out weekly and save the radiators a bit longer..... but definitely would get a clear bra installed.
You live in the one state where I would wager it is not worth it from a cost-benefit stand point.
Dusty, lots of construction, lots of expressway miles, lots of 80 MPH in traffic, debris on the road....if that describes Hawaii, then you might find it worth while. However, if you are driving 10K miles a year in 30 MPH local streets, then I would question the logic in getting a bra.
Not trying to talk you into our out of anything, but I am just skeptical that it would be of use to you...
You might be right! Maybe I don't even need the Clear Bra? I have yet to have any problems with gravel or small stones on the road. I just wasn't sure how this front end would hold on the freeway in traffic, but so far no problems. I will give it a little while before I decide.
I got the current 3M product. for sure the older versions may have had some yellowing. who knows abotu the newer ones, but of course that is also true for Avery or any other.
FWIW, the 3M product I got has a layer of the same clear coat over the top of the plastic that is use din modern car paint..so that is good in that it matches the car well and makes it hard to tell there is a film on it, and also protects well, but also for sure, if you are using a product (wax) that can yellow clear coat paint, it can yellow the film too. always use good wax!
Just purchased complete kit for fenders, bumper , lower hood,& mirrors. Plus headlamps from a seperate seller. Under $100 for all of it. I suggest looking on Ebay. Im bringing it to a local auto accessory shop to do the install. They say it's like putting on window tint.
Appearsthere is a wide disparity on cost of this product......my dealer wanted to charge $1,400 when mine (artic silver) arrives next month......are there any other good alternatives in my area, i.e. Bay Area, CA.
Try calling Alan at 407-927-1900 and asking him for recommendations. He is in the eastern time zone though so it may be too late this evening, but try tomorrow.
When I had mine installed I was warned that certain car wax can cause the film to yellow. Several people who had complained of yellowing car protective film were found to be using a wax that had a yellow dye in it.
Actually, some car waxes do that to clear coat and color coat paint also. Probably the best treatment for clear bra material is 303 Aerospace Protectant. No wax at all. It has big league uv protection and will make the clear bra super slick. If I had my whole car covered, that is probably all I would use on it.

just a note..you dont want to use anything that is UV protective on the film unless you are doing the entire car..it will change the paint colour between protected and unprotected..

As others have mentioned already, obtaining a quality installer is the key. The installer would automatically have chosen the "better" film for the application, so the customer does not need to worry about low-grade film. There are film on the market that are quite cheap (ie - ebay) and does not hold up well over time from fading and yellowing.
Application cost is based on a few things:
1. Quality of installation
2. Film Quality
3. Coverage
Given that #1 and #2 is a must, the third item would be how much to cover. Some would prefer covering just the front bumper while others look into whole panel protection. Just keep in mind that the more is being covered, the price of the installation would also go up naturally. As a fyi, we now have access to cover entire hoods of ALL Porsches. In the past, with our 48" rolls, coverage would stop 2"-3" shy of the top corners.
just picked up my midnight blue cs
i had the clear bra installed at $995 from porsche oakland
i was very happy with the job
they did my hood, bumper, mirrors, door edges, door jams, back of the front wheel wells as well as the rear of the rear wheel wells, and gas fill jam. I think that is everything.
the first thig i did when i got my car home was to hit my garage wall with the edge of my door. my garage is tiny. NO DAMAGE
RUSS, i HAD vENTURE SHIELD INSTALLED AFTER SEEING THE 3M. mY OPINION IS THAT IT APPEARS THINNER AND VENTURE IS GAURENTEED FOR ME AS LONG AS i OWN THE CAYMAN. EVERY PERSON HAS TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISION. FOR $850 i got the whole lower front done, including the splitters and fog lights. O NE THIRD OF FENDERS, ONE THIRD HOOD, HEADLIGHTS, REAR OF FRONT FENDER WELLS, REAR OF REAR FENDER WELLS, DOOR EDGES MIRROR FRONTS, AND TOP OF SPOILER. tHERE ARE NO BUBBLES OR STRETCH AREAS. IT WAS DONE BY THE DEALER AND I AM VERY SATISFIED. THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO WASH IT AND USE PLASTIC POLISH TO SHINE IT. i LOOKED AT ALL THE SPONSOR ADS AND HAD A HARD TIME DECIDING, BUT IT CAME DOWN TO MY LOCAL DEALER.
