I just thought I'd make a thread that has some pictures of my car with my Rennline aluminum track mats and aluminum pedals installed. I have Sea Blue Interior and I personally think the track mats and aluminum pedals tie in well with the 'stock' aluminum/silver interior accents. All my co-workers agreed as well. The cool thing is that you can put your 'stock' mats over top of these and your car will look normal again. I plan on just having the aluminum track-mats in my car 100% of the time. I only broke 3 drill bits installing the pedals (2nd time I'd installed aluminum pedals in a car). I started out with too small of a bit. No problem though.
FIEBRU (Rudy) already made a post about how to remove the Bose Subwoofer on the passenger side (must be done to fit the passenger side track mat) but I did it a little different than him. I only had to remove two bolts.
- First: I removed the plastic outer clip (just pull it off)
- Second: I used a torx socket to remove the one small bolt that was hiding behind the small outer plastic clip. (Don't know the size but it was small and came with my drill bit set... I was lucky)
- Third: I unplugged the cigerette lighter and the speaker connector (both very simple and easy)
- Fourth: I took out the only other bolt I could see which was a Torx bolt (much bigger). I didn't have a torx socket big enough so I just used a 4mm allen wrench and it fit perfectly.
- Fifth: I removed the entire carpeted speaker assembly. (Just grab the entire carpeted piece and slide it off its' brackets). Slide to the rear of the car (very simple).
- Sixth: It was off. I placed the track mat down and re-assembled the speaker (3 min).
Those really dress up an already handsome Cayman. My only concern would be scratch marks on the mat. Is it durable? How did you apply the gas pedal and foot rest; I don't think I see an screw heads?
wow...nice tight fit on those mats. good looking pedals too. why did you go with aluminum mats?...easier to clean obviously, any other reasons other than looks?
I used screws. The pictures are so small that you can't see the detail. Two of the black dots on the dead-pedal are screws and three of the black mats on the gas pedal are screws (the other black dots are the rubber grip nubs).
They seem durable. I'll keep the thread updated if they begin to scratch or show signs of wear. I don't think shoes can scratch them. A key or screwdriver scraping against them (hard) could scratch them. I don't think they'll get scratched.
I went for them because they are easy to clean (wipe with sponge) and because they really bring out the silver accents in my sea of blue (pun intended).
My Rennline pedals arrived this week. Great pics and can't wait until I have some time to do the install. Those track mats look great with that sea blue interior. My dead pedal has to be replaced because of some surface irregularities. I also got the optional extensions for heal/toe on the gas pedal. Hope to post some pics next week. I will add them to this thread once Zornet moves it.
