Techart Shoes and H&R springs inst. NO Carnutz!

cross post from 6 speed

I will post pix in a little while. but first i would like to express what a HORRIBLE experience this was.

i got the rims and tires from wheel enhancement in cali. dave martin took great care of me and gave me a reasonable deal.

so i got some techart 20' formulas with pirreli tires and porsche crested center caps. i'm very happy with them.

now to the bad part.

my car was due in the shop this morning by 9 am. i was told by the GM that to show up early and that he woul dbe in at 8.

so i pull up around 815 this morning and the shop is dark. no one around. so i hang out. 830 comes and goes. 845 comes and goes. mean while this is time being taken from my day and the things i need to get done today. 9 comes and goes. 915 comes and goes. (i been there an hour now and i'm BOILING esp since the shop supposed to open at 9) finally at 928 a truck pulls up and the biggest asshole i ever met steps out of it.

he opens the shop and i ask him if he is the gm, he replies with a curt 'No!' so i ask him if i can leave the car with him so i can take off since every one is off to a late start. he replies with 'i cant help you' and walks in the back.

10 minutes later, another jerk shows up 'are you **** ' he says 'nope he isnt in yet.' i begin to explain that i need to leave and he simply walks in the back. no response.

another 10-15 mins pass and finally the gm shows up. i hand off keys and explain that i will be back in a couple hours with rims. he tells me to bring them by 1pm as they will be needing to remount them before 130 to do alignment.

i drop wheels off at 1230, take my stock wheels home and come back at 230 expecting my car to be about done. i dont see my car in the install bay. they explain that it is on the alignment rack and it should be out in 15-20 mins. after 30 mins i go out back to see whats keeping them and the car is parked. i ask the tech workin on a 996 if the car was aligned and he said it was next. i go back inside and express my displeasure. they appologize and say they will hurry it up. finally my car is ready at 430. im incredibly irritated because of the 3.5 hours i wasted there today.

so the jerk tech pulls the car around front i hop in and trouble codes start flashing in the car. sensor codes, electrical codes etc. since im already irritated i take it to porsche. turns out they left a couple of sensors unplugged and dangling, they also tripped several electrical codes aswell.

i leave porsche and start to feel the car. it feels lose, unbalanced this wierd. it lacks the tight, predictable feeling it had before so im taking it into porsche on monday so they can double check everything check all bolts and connections. they are going to rebalance the wheels and do an alignment check. if its off i am redoing alignment. then coming back after a couple weeks to redo it again once the suspension settles.

after i left porsche i went back to the shop because they forgot to put my stock springs in the trunk. they had nothing beyond 'oh' when i told them about all the trouble codes and how the tech shoulda seen them. im very very annoyed an my car will never go back there again. they claimed they have done suspension on 4 other caymans so i figured they would know what they were doing.

overall it was a learning experience. even though they work on high end cars their techs are still sloppy jackasses.

too bad they are such ****ups.

the saga continues.

not only did they leave black marks on my seat, door, carpet, floor mat and shifter for me to clean. but they also scuffed my bumper right under the tail light. (most likely when the car was on lift and he was trying to undo my passenger side suspension.

im pretty sure they didnt even try to align the car either i never saw it on the alignment rack and i know for a FACT that it takes longer than 30 minutes to align the car.

i mean hell, if they dont bother to bolt **** in right and plug in sensors. why would they bother to do ne thing else right.

i'm drafting an email to the owner and the gm about the situation. im requesting a full refund of all labor and for them to pay for my car to go to a body shop to have the scuffs buffed out of the paint.

the car is going into barrier porsche on monday so they can cover it with a fine tooth comb and re align the car.

im sooo F****ING peaved right now. i expected much more from a shot that is known to work on porsche, lambo, ferrari, mb, bmw, bently, cadi etc. they are supposed to be THE shop for high end cars and i have never seen such sloppy work. even the hoopty speaker shops do better work on old buicks.

DON'T EVER EVER EVER go to Carnutz in Bellevue Washington

Be very careful who you let work on your cars folks. when in doubt, pay too much to get the work done at a porsche dealer.

Car looks terrific! Do you have the 15mm spacers on the rear axel? I have 19' Techart Formulasand I've been thinking about lowering the car with either Techart springs or waiting for the PSS9s from Bilstein, but I've been concerned that the extra width of the Techart wheel (11') may cause rubbing of the tire on the fender over bumps. Any problems with that? I did not need to roll the fenders with my 19' wheels but the 15mm spacers do make the wheels stick out quite a ways.

your safe in that respect. everything was bolt on for my stuff. im considering upping the rear to an 18mm spacer and moving the 15mm to the front. i guess if it looks like **** i can change it back.

dont buy techart springs they are rebadged and overpriced. buy h&r springs. i'll give areview of handling when i get my **** back from porsche

Sorry to hear about your problems but at least your car looks wicked. I wouldn't go as big as 20s though as our streets are very crappy.

yogi...be careful adding spacers to the front - as it WILL decrease performance. The effect is of slowing turn-in and responsiveness...

If you dont care about that - fine. Just remember that there is a trade-off between aesthetics and performance...show vs go!

DaveC...let us know if you need 9ff PSS9 (PASM or not). We can hook you up no prob.
