Cocodrilo - I don’t see any down side of ANY 9ff upgrade kits. Other than coughing-up the $$$. I’m very interested in their 87-2 40HP kit, which some CC members are waiting for their delivery.

EVO magazine from the UK has tested the 9ff CR41 in their latest issue, with the 350hp upgrade.

The original engine from the CR41 has been blown up by the german testers who posted the time faster than that of the 997 GT3. EVO says that the engine is great, bad exhaust drone around 5000rpm. Check it out on their website, www.evo.co.uk

Best, Wurlie

Wurlie thanks for the post. I have no idea about modding a Cayman but I am looking for other alternatives including the Miltek exhaust upgrade (as Ken has), 9ff, and also Strosek. I am yet to hear from the last. The 9ff 40+ kit seems to retail around 7000 euros (gulp) according to a friend of mine, but takes the cayman above the performance of a Carrera S due to the position of engine. I still have to figure out if CATS are needed (where I live no emission are measured) and if there is no drone like you say. I also want to have a sportier sound without causing a commotion among my neighbors. Apperently you can take the CS with some good headers, filter, exhaust and ECU up to to 380hp. If that can be accomplished without riskying the engine or become the next batman, I would be really interested in doing it so. Perhaps 350HP would be more than enough. So this +40HP kit is the way to go. But I still have to learn and listen to the advice for my fellow caymanauts. So lets the mod game begins. Cheers. COCOLOCOAGAIN.

I would personally go for the 9ff kit if I wanted a significant increase in power on the stock engine, or a Wendland software update (as reported by Dario in another thread). These are both options for european owners, I am not sure about Wendland in other markets. Wendland was chosen as the best in the auto, motor & sport test.

If I were looking at a major power upgrade including turbo or supercharging, I would rather consider an engine swap with the 997S unit to provide low down torque. As things stand, I see no need for that.

Best, wurlie

Thanks for the warning. So what is the best mod if I want to go to 350 or 380 HP?
