The best air filter IMO is the one that came with your car. Others boast of boosting power, as the flow is less restricted; but more dirt gets to the moving parts, then gets in the oil, then to the bearings, enroute to the oil filter. I think of it as smoking. While it may 'taste' good, or make one look cool; it is trashing your lungs.
More cool = less life.
It's all in what one values as important.

EVO does produce horsepower gains over the stock filter but I think the jury is out on what if any filtering differences there are that might have an effect on the life of your engine.
