Fourth Set of Mods - New Grille & De-Snork

I liked the lines of the Boxter Grille better, so I had Bumperplugs paint a set......

Thanks to this forum, the de-snork process was a breeze. Wire mesh, high temp matte black paint and clear tubes did the trick.

Crocrr:

Looks great, but I was told by my dealer that Porsche compared the airflow from the Boxster style intake grill to the Cayman grill and found the vertical slats on the Cayman increased air intake by 30%. I don;t know what Porsche is doing on the 2007 Boxster S, but if they make the change to that vehicle to match the Cayman I might be concerned about whether the Cayman is taking a hit on air intake.

Thanks JHellow. I thought of that too, but the 2007 Boxter grille and baffle remains unchanged and the horse power rating is the same as ours....so I am putting it down to marketing.

I also like that look better than the vertical slots. And after washing my CS today these would be much easier to clean it appears.

Looks very nice and clean I have SD wheels on my car, and I think they match the vertical design better, but it would be interesting to see a car with the horizontal vent and the SD wheels.

there goes my argument of the Cayman NOT being a Boxter Coupe...1st, Porsche puts in the same engine for both then now THIS!!! SAME GRILL!!!

we are nothing more than a Boxter Coupe.

That's just marketing hype. The vertical slates just direct air straight into that intake restrictor anyway in stock form.

Nice idea. I too prefer this look and will get it done when I get the mesh screens mentioned in another post. Is bumper plugs cheaper than just getting them from your Porsche dealer painted to match your body color?
