Comprehensive Exhaust/Power Kit Comparison

For several months I have been reading eagerly about the different kits becoming available for the Cayman. Well, it seems like there are quite a few and there have been comparisons in different threads, but they are scattared throughout the forum. Some threads are on chat, others in the mods section, etc. So....since I am seriously looking into the upgrade myself and really want to compare them all I am going to put together a kind of spreadsheet comparing whats out there. Its going to take some time to research every product but I think it will be a valuable resource for myself and maybe eventually for others who are looking into it.

I would like to ask for just a little help. If you wouldnt mind...

Tell me what exactly you guys (and gals)think would bebestcompared...ie material used, cost, HP gains, manufacturers years making exhausts, needs a ecu software upgrade vs. no upgrade, etc. etc.. When I get it finished I may post it as an article or maybe K-Man Swould post it as a sticky. In the future it could be edited and added to.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The most important thing to most of us would be cost and hp gained. We should make sure that we don't include subjective items like appearance or sound. Every person will have a different opinion on those items. Material falls into the same category. I'd be happy to help in any way that I can.

Great! I would love to get some help with this. I will try to get a list of the exhaust's available, then we can do some research on the items that seem most important to people. Cmon folks, please chime in.

Folks there are other articles coming on both the Fabspeed exhaust and it looks like possibly the A.W.E unit as well. I would exercise CAUTION when trying to compare though, just because one exhaust makes 21 HP on MY car doesn't mean it will on YOURS, and vice-versa.

Quality is the biggest issue. No dig on Fabspeed but most shops prefer to install the Millitek for the quality, fit and ease of installation over the Fabspeed for example.

Ideally if I could design a comparison I would like to see sometype of comparisons of where the increases are (both hp and tq) how much across the rev band. Of courses any loses anywhere in the rev band would be important to me also. To me saying an increase of X hp at y rpms, means nothing if the rest of the rpms have loses. It seems too much is made about just the peak numbers. Also the absence or presence of resonance at any rpm would be helpful. Just a thought since you asked for suggestions.

hmmm...well, maybe not such a great idea after all. not like we can really compare something as subjective as quality. resonance either....unless you take the manufacturers word for it. As far as hp increases and where across the rev band...most seem to have dyno charts and peak hp but again...maybe that is just to subjective. i dont know...

well, i might just do it for the hell of it. i guess as long as no one comes after me for a guarentee on what their cayman dynos at...

I hope you press on. I am seriously considering a mod and have no idea of how they compare. More specifically how they compare on a factual basis with some room for error - item, cost, performance gains (hp, torque). The more simple the better. Any attempt would be good - we cannot be the only people within this community that are considering the same with little info.

For example, I like the Milltek setup with EVO but what about the 9ff performance kit? I know they somewhat compare in hp but time will only tell if the the claims of gain are backed up from user feedback, with dynos etc. I may be in search of personal feedback rather than just factual info. A combination of both may be good in some format.

any update? as I am reading this cayman mod section, with powerkit from 9ff for $8000+, it gives out the same hp as the 3.8 L engine swap? I was like, wtf, price is like $15k difference but gives out the same output. how come?
