As many of you know, when you install aftermarket seats (or even Porsche's GT3 seats) you'll end up with an air bag error when you start the car. You will also get an AWS (Automatic Weight Sensor) fault (you don't seen any errors but the Passenger Seat Airbag Off light in the center console lights up).

Turns out it is a trivial task for your Porsche dealer to set some ECU options to deal with all these faults. All you need to do is ask them to use their diagnostic computer to program the following options:
  • Driver Thorax Airbag : No
  • Passenger Thorax Airbag : No
  • Driver Seatbelt Buckle: No
  • Passenger Seatbelt Buckle: No
  • AWS : No
No more error codes

All of the above, complimnets of sleepless

Roll Bar?

Is the roll bar in that picture custom made? If not where did you get it?

It looks nicely thought out. It reminds me of the DAS Sport bars that CDOC sells.

the roll bar in this thread belongs to sleepless. it's custom fabricated. if you have a good fabricator, he can duplicate it from those pix.

someone asked about newer style GT3 seats, you mean those that look like the CGT seats? yes you can order from porsche dealer. the seat back is carbon and cost about 3k/each.

as far as every day use. for me the seats are the most comfortable for my back. i put those seats in EVERY one of my cars, including audi S4 and other non porsches. for some reason my back does't hurt in those seats but hurts in every other seat. i am 180lbs 5'9, 34" waist if that helps.

Cayman Roll Bar

Mooty thanks for the info on the roll bar.

I figured it was a custom job, but I didn't want to go through the effort if someone was already selling a roll bar.

AFAIK, no one has pre fabricated bar right now.
maybe mantis or autopower or safety devices will come up with something in the near future (think 6-12 months).
