Installing Side Marker unit

First, I DID do a search, and while there are lots of comments about need for change, I didn't see much about install. I hope the Monitors will allow this to stay in the "Chat' forum for a short while, before it is properly moved.
After several comments about my posted pics of new Meteor ("Get Clear Markers"!), I called sponsor Eric at Bumperplugs, and he couldn't have been nicer. Units arrived next day (We're in same state).
The "Book" tells you about pushing in the tab on the back to remove unit. (Read it there). I'd just add that you have first to feel for the tab inside, and it helps to "jiggle" the assembly, to feel the movement on your screwdriver.
Now, here comes the part that might be helpful to other Non-techs- instead of breaking down the socket assembly, I left it intact, and exchanged the bulbs (clear for amber). You'll see that the whole socket and bulb comes out of the assembly by rotating it about 45 degrees.
re installing the exchanged assembly (with amber bulb) is a snap.
Hope this'll help another, since it seems that many of us switch out the side market assembly....

RussK has an article with pictures about how to do this. http://www.caymanclub.net/reviews/sh...roduct=5&cat=3

I'm not sure why the search function didn't turn it up but the new "search tool" seems a bit crippled.

I'd encourage you to rethink the clear bulbs. They are very annoying to other drivers if they are the kind that flash WHITE. Those are a real no-no.

Santa Fe,
I may not have made it clear- I used the "new" amber bulb, with the old socket, and new clear lens... Misleading on the pics, IMHO, is Don't try to pull off the assemblies w/o pushing first the tab through the fender. You could reverse the bend of the tab, and "never get it off"....
