replacement bulbs for OEM HID's ??

hi, does anyone here know what type of bulb the OEM HID's use? car is a 2007 cayman S, bi-xenon, etc

my local dealer wants something like $700 for bulbs, but considering i actually live in the middle of nowhere, figures

if i can simply get some replacement bulbs on my own, even if the shipping made up for the difference, i'd still feel better

anyone?

thanks for the time

Did you check your user's manual? I believe the bulb spec is listed on page 249 or around there.

Xenon's only come in two types of housings, d2s for projectors, and d2r for reflectors. You need a philips D2S at 4100k (sometimes marketed at 4300k, their color temperature after burn-in). You could also upgrade to a philips ultinon 6000k bulb if you prefer a more blue look. Don't buy a Japanese bulb to save money, go with a genuine philips d2s bulb.

I'm surprised your xenon bulb has gone out this early and warranty is not covering it, the bulbs are supposed to last for thousands of hours and if it has gone out this early it was a defective bulb and should be covered under warranty.

Been using and selling HID's since 1997 ,(for rally car pods) and although supplied a small number as "spares" never ever heard of one failing....yet. FYI:Retail in UK is about £65-70.00/bulb.
