dry cell batteries: odyssey/braille vs optima

hi, looking into a lightweight dry cell replacement battery and was wondering what was better, the odyssey/braille's or the optima's

the battery will be used in a daily driver, though there are long periods of inactivity in there

so in other words its gotta have the ability to out trickle-drain the OEM and still have cranking power to start the car after a really long time

and then the weight

doesn't matter if its expensive

and also how did you mount the battery?

thanks for the time

Get the high powered Optima - I used them in several of my old 911s, and they were really good. A lot of racers use these.

optima, at least the common yellow, or redtops are the big heavy, deep discharge batteries. I don't think you will realise any weight savings there. i only have experience with the dynabatt, 13lbs, no problem spinning over a low compression (turbo) 2.0l 4 cyl. even if it has sat for a couple weeks. however, not sure how it would fair trying to spin a 3.4, 11.x-1 compression motor. for any of the small braille/odessys, etc i would invest in a battery tender

I have Optimas in all three old clunks (57 & 60 Giulietta's and a 65 Morgan +4). The Morgan had been sitting neglected for 14 months and last week it started right up without charging or anything. Great battery!

This Odyssey PC925T weights only 24lbs. Would it fit in the Cayman? Powerful enough?

What does the OEM batter weight? I'm curious how much lighter these batteries would be.
