Revo re-map

Im considering an ECU remap. Seems like there are limited options right now but Revo (California) appear to have a cayman s product that delivers 15-20bhp which seems more than most. Has anyone got experience of Revo. Here in the UK I have never heard of them but get the impression from the website that they are reputable in the US. Any advice / experiences much appreciated.

Terry

I believe they are coming onboard as a sponsor soon. They are well known in the US but I have not seen a Cayman with their software in person yet. I think Neil Orton at Orton Performance has done a few Caymans with the REVO programming and could probably give you some first hand results.

Hi Terry,
Revotechnik is actually a UK company. Their main client are cars from VWs group ie VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat and had a loyal fan base with good review. They also do Porsche (Surprise! Surprise!) I am planing to fit one after I fit the porsche sport exhaust+/-milltek manifold ie Jan 07. I will let everyone know my verdict after!!
Superchip is also a UK company which does not specialise in any manufacterer. You might even consider DMS or AMD!!!

Neil,

Care to ellaborate? I understand Wendland has a software package that really brings the middle of the RPM range to life. Any chance this is your programmer?

Gator Bite.
It's not Wendland.I am working with a programmer from Germany who is very well known in Europe.I can tell you that he has done and still does ECU work for the premier Porsche tuner in the world.

Well thats a bit of a circular argument since Orton IS the premier porsche tuner in the world and we already know he works for you

Silly question: should I get the airfilter and exhaust fitted before the ECU re-map? The GIAC sales guy said that the ECU will 'adjust' to the exhaust / airfilter even if I had the ECU done ahead of the other mods? Here in Europe the Milltek exhaust is on a 8 week lead time - so ideally I would get the ECU and filter now and the exhaust later. Is this a mistake?

terry...the GIAC guy is correct. The change in airflow is not significant enough to warrant a full retune (or different mapping) as you will not exceed the parameters of the tuned chip. The ecu is adaptive within a certain window of change to accomodate for dirty filters and such. This why there is only one program offered by most chip tuners like GIAC, REVO, Orton, etc.. This isn't to sat that a custom chip made by a competent tuner with your car on a dyno isn't more ideal. Its just confirming that if you get the chip before the I/E mods, it will adapt later once you do the mods and run the same way it would if you installed them in the reverse order.

Dave Revo has 2 stages for the Cayman S. Stage 1 is for cars without mods and stage 2 is for cars with a full exhaust and intake.

This is really helpful guys - many thanks. Having used the Cayman club as a fantastic source of information I have decided to go for the following:

Step 1. De snork + Evo Filter + AWE cat back
Step 2. Milltek Headers + Revo stage 2 re-map

Sadly I will need to do each stage at a different dealer here in the UK. Hopefully its a good plan! If you think its a mistake let me know asap!!
