Installing GT3 Seats in my CS (will airbags still work?)
I understand that when you remove the stock seats and install the GT3/racing seat, you will set off the airbag warning light.

I also understand there is a procedure for turning off the sensors that cause that light to illuminate.

However, what I don't know for sure, is whether or not the remaining air bags in the car will work.

Anyone know for sure?

GT3 seats--
The deactivation sequence has been posted here. It only disables the warning light for the thorax (side, seat-mounted) airbags and, if you wish, the front seatbelt warning buzzer. I did this a few days ago, worked fine...

DC LEE is correct - if you do a search for "GT3 seats" (without the quotes) You'll probably find the thread that has the procedure in it for having the dealer disable the warning lights for the thorax airbags. The other airbags will still work as intended.

A friend of mine, more mechanically-inclined than me, helped to install my GT3 seats this weekend.

They look and feel great!

Before the install...

Factory Sport Seats:

GT3 Seats as delivered from Southcoast Porsche:


One of the two seats did have very minor damage to the belt loop plastic and minor blemish to leather where the other seat adjustment handle made contact during transit.


During the install...

Removed the factory driver seat:


Once the seat was removed, we identified the various wiring harnesses and connectors. The only one that can be used with the GT3 seats is the seat belt connector.


Here is it re-assembled in the wiring connection box and installed on the factory mounting point under the GT3 seats (gotta luv OEM equipment)...


Installing the seat belt to the new GT3 seat.


Finished!


This 1 hour project turned out to be 3 hours, but we took our time and much care removing and installing the seats. There were many points this could have been ugly (damaging parts on car) had much time/care not been taken.

Looks nice. I believe that usually the seat belt connector is fead through the hole in the seat near it, so that the seat belt fits around the driver better. I guess if you are going to add a harness than you might have left it out on purpose.
