First Road Trip

Just got back from my first road trip in my 08 2.7. My wife and I took the back roads from Central California over to the coast. We found the back way into the Carmel Valley from Highway 101 west to Carmel and Monterey. Then we drove down the Highway 1 twisties to Morro Bay then back over to the Central Valley. The trip was about 475 miles and the car was fantastic. I couldn't be more pleased with how the car handled. The drive was beautiful with the hills in full wild flower bloom. I averaged about 24 mpg over the whole trip. The first picture is at the Bixby Bridge south of Carmel. This bride has been in numerous car commercials. The last picture is at the James Dean Memorial off Highway 46 in Cholame, California. This is where he lost his life in his Porsche 550 Spyder. If you have never driven down the coast of California, I highly recommend it. There is no better time than driving a Porsche on the twisted road of Highway 1.

bantsai-

I did the same trip as your going to do this summer. It's a fantastic trip. I did it BP (before Porsche) in the family truckster. Not as fun as you'll have in your Cayman. If you have time, I would add to your list of to see Jackson Hole and Teton National Park. The Tetons are magnificent and are a must see. From there you can enter Yellowstone from the south entrance. Also, if you have a chance you can take the northeast exit out of the park and take the Bear Tooth pass into Montana. This is one of the twistiest roads in the country with awesome views. Bear Tooth has been on a few car commercials. I would love to drive my Cayman over this pass. I took it to head over to The Little Big Horn National Monument in Montana. From there we dropped back down into Wyoming to head over to Devils Monument then into South Dakota to Mount Rushmore. Take some pictures and post your trip. Have a GREAT time!

I would love to go on a road trip like that, but never have time. So, my Cayman remains my daily driver for work. Maybe some day...

Wow

Awesome trip...as you said there is nothing better than a great road trip!

I've promised myself a full PCH trip..problem is to get there and back is 4000 miles! It would most likely be better/more cost effective for me to fly out, rent a suitable sports car and return it on the other end of the trip.

So, for now the twisties of the Ozark mountains and foothills have to suffice. But all is not lost, when Car and Driver did their 10 best driving roads, 2 of them were in the Ozarks
