After placing my order almost 6 months ago, I finally picked up my 2008 2.7L yesterday

. I now feel like a legitimate member of this site. And I can honestly say it was well worth the wait (although accessing this site almost every day for the last 6 months has significantly eased the pain …and for that I sincerely thank all of you). After putting on the first of what will be many enjoyable miles, I can now say that I “get it”. What a rush!! I haven’t owned a manual transmission for about 25 years, but running thru the gears and truly feeling the engine respond has reminded me of what a true driving experience is all about. Although I really don’t think I have ever quite experienced “this” before.
My greatest decision from day 1 - like many others – was choosing between the 2.7 base or the 3.4 “S”. I’m sure there will be days when I wish I had opted for quicker acceleration and more power, but I decided to go with a few more options and felt that the 2.7 would be more than enough for my initial entry into the land of performance sports cars and the world of Porsche. Also went with
ruby red …after driving 4 ½ hours each way to see the new color on the closest actual car I could find (I wasn’t disappointed). My other options included the preferred package, 18” Cayman S wheels, PCM 2.1 w/extended navigation (I know it’s not as good as less expensive portable devices, but I wanted the clean integrated look), Bi-Xenon lights, Automatic Climate control, Chrome Exhaust Pipe (which I really like), Carrara White Instrument Dials, CD changer …and added clear side markers (compliments of feedback from this site). And other than the trunk liner, Cayman Club badge and License Plate …that will be it for awhile.
A few quick pictures follow (if I did it right)
