The Car show was a fun little gathering and my first since I got my Cayman. The cars that won the ribbons were all older cars that have been kept in pristine condition. I think I would havfelt guilty had I been awarded one. They should have had a class for the newer car, but maybe next time.I will post some pics of the winners and the crowd.
Russ, yours gets my vote. The heck with older (except for us of course). The danger to your Cayman at the show was probably greater than any track event you are going to do...
Mine was the only one there and many had not seen one in person. I got lots of great compliments on the car. In fact one guy who had the silver 911 Turbo was talking to my wife and he commented on how fast and powerful the Cayman is, I thought yeah, but isn't a 911 Turbo much faster than my cayman?
It was a very nice group of people, we had a good time just seeing other cars and their owners. The snub was nice, but I am not sure what the judging was based on. Most of the cars were very clean and detailed nicely.
Even the wife enjoyed the event, she got to find out first hand from the other wives that Porsche owners are fanatics about their cars. If felt good to feel normal!
Russ

That Cobalt Blueis stunning. Also I was struck at how well the Cayman fit into the line up. Noquestion its a Porsche, but it has it's own unique curves.I must agree with some of the others, thats the best looking car there. Especially telling is the first pic. The Cayman really stands out in the crowd. Thanks for sharing.

Russ - this may the best thing you could have hoped for from this event! Now your wife has a reference point to compare your obsession to!
I took my wife to a local Porsche club winter banquet (also my first Porsche club event). We met many different people - women Porsche drivers included. They were very friendly, and most were excited for us and our new purchase. And we didn't even have the car yet! The slide show let us know what we were in for (Concours, shows, rallies, rally cross, sunrise drives for group breakfasts, etc.) Hope your local group is as active?
Russ K: The slantnose might have been picked because it is so rare. It looks like a 930 Turbo cab with RUF wheels. I think the factory option slantnose package ran around 24K on a new car. I believe it is a nod to the Porsche 935 racecar which had a similar sloped front end. But your Cayman looks great!! Next time!!!
Nice pics Russ. From the lineup, I agree that your car coulda taken BIS...has the best look of all of them!!! Hope to see many more pics from your contests.
KBS911, thanks for the nice comments. The Cayman sort of looked like the Porsche of the future compared to some of the vintage cars and even the newer ones.
Red Eye, yes the wife got to see firsthand what a nice bunch of people these Porsche owners were, and I do believe this is a pretty active group.
jla3317, thanks for that info, you probably are correct. It was very nice and beautifully maintained. I could tell the owner really worked hard to keep it that way.
