Hello everyone. I've been a long time BMW fanatic but I just convertered to the Crockside yesterday. I still love BMWs but the Cayman S is a true sports car that is more fun to drive then any of the many cars that I've owned over the years.
The new M3 is bigger, heavier and makes some great V8 sounds but it just did not thrill me during the test drive like the Cayman S did. With that said, if I was using the car as a daily driver, I would probably go with the M3, however this is my fun/weekend/occational track car.
The one item that sticks out as head and shoulders better then any BMW I've owned is the clutch/manual trans in the cayman! Wow, easy smooth shifts from 1st to 2nd and great excellent clutch feel.
Looking forward to Buttonwillow Raceway with the BMW Car Club at the end of July. (the manual says I need to get 2000 miles on the car before attending driving events...dang!) I plan to join the Porsche Car Club very soon.
Here are some pics:

Looks cool !
I don't own an M3 but I test drove the new one before going for the Cayman. M3 has a big engine but the sound was a let down for me. I found the Porsche a lot more appealing for many reasons so I settled with the V6 ... and I'm glad I did.

what dealer is that? the [gulf?] blue 911S in the background is pretty far-out looking.
Beautiful car. But I would talk to the dealer before you go out and buy clear corner markers. DE1's should come with clear corners from the factory. Looks like they swapped yours out to another customer.
The 911 in the background looks like Mexico Blue. A classic Porsche color. I knew a guy that had a 911 SC in that color, and it really stood out.
Mexico Blue is my favorite color, and I wanted to order the CS that way. My spouse begged me not to, so I didn't. She also talked me out of Carrara White, my second favorite color. Love may be blind, but my spouse isn't.
I thought that DE1 comes with red tail light abut not clear side markers...
My Mom purchased #246 in March. Just like the brochure and the website, it came with clear corners. After I got my black CS I ordered clear side markers from SunCoast. Weird thing is the markers in the DE1 are bright white and the ones I ordered are slightly smoked. Maybe they are different part numbers but I haven't removed the ones from my Mom's car to check.
