I ordered a Cayman S from Tischer Porsche. Unfortunately, it was too late to add an option that I wanted. Tischer was very accommodating in solving the problem by allowing me to order a different car with precisely what I wanted. I really appreciate Tischer's effort in resolving the problem satisfactorily. Score one for the dealer!!
we would rather him not say. but it was competitive.
Well, heck you could land another sale out of it, me! My dealer says orders go for sticker, nothing less. If you let me order and I can pick up or ship, maybe that works?
In order to be considered for the Porsche Premier Dealer program we are not allowed to advertise prices that are below MSRP of the vehicle. I know this is different, but every car that we sell to people on forums(enthusiasts) are asked that they keep the numbers that they were given to themselves. We appreciate the enthusiast market and they are rewarded for bringing value to the brand.

That's just nonsense. Don't be held hostage. A Cayman is a commodity. Many delears are discounting MSRP by 4-7% on ordered '07 cars. A quick search will turn up a number of related threads on the subject.
My advice (did you ask? ) is to contact dealers within a several hundred mile radius and negotiate. Even with with several dealers in my immediate vicinity, I ordered from a dealer 500 miles away who was willing to deal to a fair price for both parties. The drive home is a bonus!
Balboa, thanks for the comments. I know it is nonsense, thats why I am talking with the Tischer guy. All of the porsche dealerships in dallas and houston roll up under 1 company. THey are all competing, but all have the same guidlines. They won't discount ordered cars. I have tried to force my hand, but they aren't budging

I agree totally. The pricing by your dealer really is nonsense. I really do think that your dealer is trying to take advantage of you. Perhaps that dealer can sell cars at MSRP, but you surely don't have to pay that much.
1. Go to www.porsche.com/usa/
2. Click onto "find a dealer"
3. Put in your zip code and the distance from that zip code that you are willing to travel.
4. Hit search and a listing of dealers will be produced.
Production of 2007 Cayman S and Cayman cars will be over soon. 2008 cars are starting to be produced in July, I believe. There are lots of 2007 cars for sale and most dealers would certainly be willing to negotiate a fair price for both parties for existing and incoming 2007 cars.
I will certainly respect my dealer's wishes and not state my discount. But I will say, go to another dealer (not your dealer). You could save a significant amount of money.

I know fellas, this is all very logical and I have thought this through very thoroughly. I don't have to pay that much for the car, hence I have not bought one!!!
Problem is look at a map. Houston and Dallas same brand of dealers, no difference. New Orleans, low volume dealer. New Mex Albuquerqe, low volume. The closest one is atlanta, which is like 700 miles away. I talked to the one in scottsdale and they don't discount ordered cars either. They too are a premier dealer. I haven't called the atlanta one yet. Unless you live on the east coast, california, or chicago, porsche dealer density is not that high. There just aren't many options in a 500 mile radius

Let me know if you would consider buying from Reeves Motor Sports in Tampa. Let me just say, that I got the best deal here out of 5 other Porsche dealers in Florida.

What specs are you looking for? Is it something that might be on the lot at another dealer and the car could be shipped? Or are you looking for some very specific options and colors that will have to be ordered?
I am going pretty specific. I am having the darndest time finding sport seats. The austin dealer has one with them but it has nav and all other options and is 74, and not even full leather. I want yellow, white, or silver. Sport seats. Sport chrono, xenon, turbo or classic carrera wheels, and the basics, bose, heated mirrors, whatnot. Surprisingly hard to find!!!

All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
