Exclamation When is OK to go to the dealer?

So I have decided that I want the car, but I want to wait until Oct 1st to seal the deal and buy the car. When do you think it's ok to go and test drive the car, get the pamphlet paraphenalia, etc.? You know how it is- you get inside the web and all of a sudden, you're married with 3 kids and your mother-in-law lives downstairs in the basement!!

Opinions?

It's okay to go any time that you want to go. What difference does it make? (Except that I always try to buy a car at the end of the month . . not the beginning. It might not make any difference but it works for me.) If you're serious about buying they'll talk to you. It took me six months to finally seal the deal on my wife's car.

I'm not sure what you mean here.

Good luck!

it is already September so any time this month is fine to go and test drive and grab a brochure . i agree with the previous post that if at all possible ,you may think about pulling the trigger on Sept.30 instead of Oct.1 .on the last day of the month , some dealers are more apt to take a deeply discounted deal to meet sales goals that have been set for the month or to "close out strong" .

Agree, the end of month may get you more % discount. Good luck. Go in when you have time for a test drive & to speak with the sales associates. But wait till end of month to get serious on pricing.

Agree on the end of month thing. I wasnted to pay and take delivery of mine on Friday June 1 rather than Thursday May 30, just because Friday worked better with my schedule than Thursday did - I didn't care if it was May or June. The dealer offered me a significant break by coming in on Thurday May 30 due to improving May sales. I asked what the difference is whether he bolsters May sales on the last day or gets June sales off to a good start on the first day of the month - he agreed but said that's just the way things work. I went in on Thursday ...
