Buying a Cayman

Hey guys-

I have been looking at/negotiating with a dealer for a 2006 Cayman S, details are as follows:

- Seal Metallic Grey/Grey Leather
- Xenon
- 18.6K miles
- Going to give me certified pre-owned until 2012
- Just had 20K service, had new rear tires installed
- Previous owner traded in for a Cayenne

They are asking 49K for it. Is this reasonable? I have been negotiating but that have not been too flexible as of yet. I have seen others in the mid 50s with similar mileage. I am in the bay area.

Thanks for your help,
Evan

You left out the mileage, but I am guessing 20k or so. What are the other options. Not a great deal, but a decent one.

I think it is a "decent" deal for the bay area but if you push a little you can probably get a bit more off what with the 2008 models rolling out now the car is actually 2 model years old even though as you said in service just over a year. Was the previous owner a member here? You can check the Registry to see and match the last 6 digits of the VIN# perhaps.

I don't know about the Bay area, but I just got a new one for 55k (33 miles on it), which had an MSRP of around 63k. I got this in the DC metro area.

End of summer end of model year you should be able to get a good deal on a new one, might be worth calling around to places a little further away.
