I took delivery of my '08 CS yesterday

Yesterday I flew up to Portland picked up my car and drove it home for about 5 hours. Here are some of my initial thoughts about the "experience."

1. Sunset Porsche in Portland were very easy to deal with and very professional. A nice break from traditional car sales. They set me up with clear markers at no additional charge and they prepped the car exactly as I had asked for.
2. I ordered Midnight blue metallic and it is actually redder than I thought. I like it, but it has kind of a purple look to it under certain light conditions. A little different than I expected.
3. The car really does feel like my old 911 SC. Kind of in the way the power is delivered, the turn in, and the response of the car. All kind of vauge things, but for example it certainly doesn't feel like my 951!
4. 5th and 6th were surprisingly useful on the freeway. 5th on my 951 isn't really even useful until 90 mph+.
5. Power was better than expected. (But still adhering to the break in.)

Pics soon!

Congrats on the delivery of your new '08 CS. I am interested in the Midnight Blue red/purple hue. Likewise, I have on order an '08 CS in Midnight Blue. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Just curious - Are you saying they did your intake/plenum/exhaust and brake duct mods, or are those "pre-purchased" items just sitting in your garage waiting to be installed?

Congrats on your purchase - you'll love it even more after the break-in period.

The mods are in the garage waiting for installation. So far I've put on the silver hood badge.

Looking closely at the paint, there seems to be some red metallic flake in the paint giving it that hue under certain light conditions. Not just a silver flake. I'll see if I can capture the color in a picture.

I honestly didn't even get a chance to see a car painted this color before I speced it out! After I ordered it I did see a used 997 painted this color, but it was in different light conditions. When I took delivery it was different enough from my expectations that I double checked that the color on the window sticker was Midnight Blue!

My wife thinks it looks a little red too so it's not just my eyes...

Looks pretty midnight blue to me. In certain light conditions, basalt does a similar thing, btw. It occasionally takes on a deep deeep earthy tone, distinctly not color-neutral. I think it's quite cool actually.

thoughest think about trading in my 06 CS or an 07 CS was the change from Midnight Blue to Basalt Black. That Blue is really unique and beautiful! Never saw the red, definitely the purple, silver and black hughes.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the pictures. The dark midnight blue color has a deep rich tone. I am sure that depending on the lighting conditions, the car's hues can show different shades. The black interior looks great. I also choose the black interior, but with standard seats, and full leather. Congratulations on your new ride.
